NY unemployment website keeps crashing when I try to certify weekly
I've been trying to certify for my weekly benefits since Sunday morning, but the NY unemployment website keeps freezing up. Every time I get to the page where I answer the work search questions, it either logs me out or gives me an error message. I've tried using different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and even tried on my phone but nothing works. This is the 3rd week in a row I'm having trouble. Anyone else dealing with this? I'm worried about missing my certification window and not getting paid. Would calling be any better?

Yes!!!! I've been having the EXACT same issue since last Friday. The website keeps timing out or giving some BS error code when I try to certify. I thought it was just my internet connection but I guess the system is just broken as usual 🙄

After 6 failed attempts with the website, I ended up using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls unemployment for you and got a callback with an actual person who helped me certify over the phone. It was the only thing that worked after dealing with the broken site for days. Best decision ever - got my payment processed right away. try clearing your browsers cache and cookies. sometimes that helps. also make sure your not using a vpn when you login cause the site blocks those. ive had this issue a bunch of times.

Here's what helped me with this exact problem: First, try certifying during off-peak hours - I've had success very early in the morning (5-6am) or late at night after 10pm when server load is lower. Second, if that doesn't work, you can certify by phone at 1-888-581-5812 for touch-tone phones or 1-888-783-1370 for voice recognition. Sometimes the automated system works when the website doesn't. If neither of those options work, your best bet is getting through to a live agent. I wasted days trying to call until I found claimyr.com - they keep calling for you and connect you with an agent. Got my certification issue resolved in one call and my payment was released the next day. Lastly, document everything - take screenshots of errors, note dates/times you tried to certify, and keep a log of all your work search activities. This helps if there's ever a dispute about why you couldn't certify on time. Hope this helps! The system is frustrating but there are workarounds.

This just happened to me too! The only way I got it resolved was by using claimyr.com to get someone on the phone. The agent told me there's been a system-wide glitch affecting a ton of accounts but they can override it on their end. Might be worth a try.

•That's the thing - you don't wait on hold. The app does all the calling and only connects you when theres an actual person. I was doing other stuff and got a call when they had someone. Super easy.

I work in IT and this is probably because they're running their system on ancient technology that can't handle the user load. The NY unemployment system runs on COBOL which is a programming language from the 1950s!!! No joke! They just patch things together and hope it holds.

If u miss ur certification window u can still backdate it! u just gotta call and explain the technical difficulties. they'll make u fill out a form but u'll still get paid eventually
