NY unemployment system glitch yesterday? Couldn't complete filing

Was anyone else having problems filing their weekly NY unemployment claim yesterday? I tried to certify around 2pm and the system kept freezing at the employment question page. Tried 3 different browsers (Chrome, Edge & Firefox) and even my phone but kept getting stuck at the same spot. Called the automated phone system but it said 'system unavailable' after I entered my PIN. Really need this week's payment to come through on time... Anyone else run into this or know if the system is working today?

Yes! Same thing happened to me yesterday. The system was definitely having issues. I finally got through around 8pm last night after trying all day. The website seems to be working fine today - I just helped my roommate file about an hour ago with no problems. Try again now, you should be able to complete your certification before the weekly deadline.

Thanks for letting me know! I'll try again right now. Really hope I don't miss the window for this week.

happens ALL THE TIME with ny unemployment!! their system is garbage... probably "maintenance" they never announce. always file early in the week to avoid this mess!

The NYSDOL system was undergoing scheduled maintenance yesterday between 12pm-4pm. This wasn't widely communicated, but there was a small notice on the login page last week mentioning it. The system should be fully operational now. Remember that you have until midnight on Saturday to certify for the previous week, so you still have plenty of time. If you encounter any further issues, try clearing your browser cache and cookies before attempting again. For future reference, the system tends to be most stable during early morning hours (before 9am) or late evening (after 8pm), when fewer users are accessing it simultaneously.

The notices are usually posted on the NYSDOL login page in the announcements section, but they're easy to miss. They also sometimes post on their Twitter account (@NYSLabor) but not consistently. I agree they should make these notifications more prominent.

I had the same problem yesterday! After trying for hours with no luck, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected directly to an NYSDOL agent who helped me certify over the phone. Took like 20 minutes total instead of wasting my whole day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE. The agent told me they were having database issues that were affecting about 30% of accounts.

Is that service legit? I've been trying to get through to unemployment for 3 days about my payment being held up and can't get a human on the phone no matter what time I call.

Yep, totally legit. My brother-in-law used it first and recommended it to me. Basically just helps you skip the phone queue. The actual certification still happens directly with the unemployment agent.

this happens to me every other week i swear. the trick is to try right at midnight when the new week starts on sunday or super early in the morning like 5am. less people on the system means it doesn't crash as much lol

Has anyone gotten through today? I'm trying right now (1:30pm) and still getting error messages when I try to certify. Getting really worried as I'm already behind one week because of ID verification issues.

I just checked again and the system seems to be working fine now. Try completely closing your browser (not just the tab) and restarting your computer before trying again. Sometimes the system gets stuck with cached information from previous attempts.

Update: Finally got through! For anyone else having issues, what worked for me was using Chrome in incognito mode. All my benefits are now certified for the week. Thanks everyone for the help!
