Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. NY unemployment site suddenly missing captcha - can't login to certify

The weirdest thing just happened with my weekly certification. I went to log in like I always do but the captcha that's normally next to the login fields is completely gone. When I try to enter my username and password and click login anyway, it gives me an error saying I didn't complete the captcha. But there literally is no captcha showing up on my screen for me to complete! I've tried refreshing the page like 20 times, cleared my cache, tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, even Edge), and even tried on my phone instead of my computer. Same issue everywhere - no captcha appears but it demands I complete one. Anyone else experiencing this or know what's going on? I need to certify this week and I'm freaking out because I can't even get into the system.

My brother in law works in IT for a state agency (not NY) and he says most government websites are running on ancient systems they never properly updated. Not surprised they broke something with the captcha. Hope you get it sorted!

Certified on Sunday but NY unemployment system now showing 'enter for benefits' instead of 'processing'

Just completed my weekly certification this past Sunday like I always do. Usually after I certify, my account shows 'processing' for a few days until the payment goes through. But I logged in today (Wednesday) to check on things and suddenly it's showing 'enter for benefits' again, like I never certified at all! I double-checked my confirmation number from Sunday and definitely completed everything correctly. This has never happened in the 4 months I've been on unemployment. Tried calling the helpline but couldn't get through to anyone after waiting 45 minutes. Anyone else experiencing this? Does this mean I need to certify again or would that mess things up even more? Really need this payment to come through for rent next week.

typical new york unemployment nonsense. been dealing with this system for too long. sometimes when you finally get through to a rep they'll tell you they can see you certified even when the system doesn't show it. their computer system is from the stone age i swear

I've been on UI for 6 months and had this happen twice. Both times I just waited and it fixed itself after 2-3 days. Don't certify again - just be patient. If it doesn't fix itself by Friday then start worrying.

Confused about 'credit to account' on NY unemployment tax transcript - where's this money?

Last week I checked my tax transcript on the IRS website to make sure everything was good with my return. I noticed there's something called a "credit to account" for about $1,160 that seems related to unemployment taxes I paid. This showed up from November, but I can't find any kind of actual balance or account where this money might be. The IRS website is so confusing and there's no clear explanation of what "account" they're even talking about. I've never seen this money - is it supposed to be refunded to me? Does it go toward future taxes? I tried calling the IRS but after waiting for 2 hours I got disconnected. I filed my taxes in April with the unemployment income included, and I don't understand if this credit means I'm owed money or what. Has anyone dealt with this before with unemployment tax credits?

This systems so broken that my 68 year old mother figured out how to use Twitter just to publicly complain to get the attention of our state rep after 4 months of no unemployment benefits or tax refunds 😂😭 The sad part is that actually worked!

Anyone have the secret steps to actually reach a human at NY unemployment?

I've spent the last three weeks trying to get through to someone at unemployment. My claim got flagged for "identity verification" in August and everything's been on hold since then. I uploaded all my documents through the portal but nothing's changed. Every time I call the main number it just sends me through those annoying automated messages and then disconnects! I've tried calling at different times (super early, lunch time, right before closing) but nothing works. Someone in another group mentioned there's a specific sequence of buttons to press or something to bypass the system? Does anyone have these magic steps to finally reach an actual person? I'm down to my last $260 and rent is due next week.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? I've been trying for two months to get my ID verification resolved. Part time work reporting on ny unemployment - no payment when claiming 4 days?

So I've been working part time at this cafe while trying to get my benefits. Last week they had me working 4 days (Tuesday through Friday) and I honestly reported it when filing my weekly claim. I got ZERO payment from unemployment. Now they have me scheduled for all 5 days next week but only like 4-5 hours each day. Thats still way less than full time hours but I'm worried I'll get nothing again if I claim all 5 days worked. Can someone explain how this partial unemployment actually works? I'm making way less than my old job but keep getting penalized for being honest about working these few shifts. Is there a way to fix this or am I just screwed for trying to make some income while job hunting?

Not to freak you out, but they're SUPER strict about this. If you misreport (even accidentally) they can hit you with fraud penalties later. Make sure you're claiming exactly what your employer reports.
