Stuck trying to scan ID for NY unemployment verification - where is the scan button??

I've been going in circles for 2 days trying to verify my identity for my unemployment claim. Got laid off in September due to budget cuts and finally applied last week. Everything was going fine until I reached the ID.me verification step. Created my account, got to the security questions part, but I can't for the life of me find where to actually scan my driver's license. I keep getting sent back to the same dashboard page! Clicked every possible link and button but there's no option to upload or scan ID documents. The verification status just says "incomplete" but gives no instructions on how to actually complete it. Anyone else get stuck at this point? I've tried on my laptop, phone, different browsers... nothing works. My benefits are on hold until this verification goes through and I'm getting desperate. Called the help number but just get recordings. How do you actually get to the scanning part??

similar thing happened to me last month. The id.me site is total garbage! had to try like 4 different browsers before it worked. Chrome on my Android finally showed the upload button that wasnt appearing anywere else. try using ur phone with chrome and make sure u clear cookies first. also make sure ur phone camera is enabled for the site permissions or whatever.

Didn't think of trying different browsers! I've been using Safari this whole time. Will try Chrome right now, thanks!

After struggling with that stupid ID.me process for nearly a week I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an actual human at unemployment who helped me bypass some of the verification steps. Talking to an agent got my money released within days after being stuck for weeks! Best decision I made through this whole nightmare process. Here's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Yeah it actually does. I was super skeptical at first but I was desperate after spending hours on hold every day. They connected me to an agent in about 30 mins and the agent fixed everything right away.

sounds like one of those miracle solutions that never actually work... 🙄 anyone else try this?

I used it too! Couldn't believe it but got through to someone who fixed my claim when I was ready to give up completely.

For real, it saved me so much stress. The unemployment agent I talked to even told me they're getting backed up with all these ID verification issues.

Ugh ID.me is literally THE WORST. Had same problem. You need to completely log out, clear cache and browser history, then log back in. When you get to dashboard, there should be a "verify your identity" button on the right side of page (at least on desktop). Click that, then you'll go thru several screens of info before camera option appears. If that doesn't work, try incognito mode. The site is buggy af.

I work in IT and can tell u the ID.me integration with ny unemployment is a total disaster. They changed the verification flow last month and broke half the functionality. What worked for me: 1. Make sure you're using a supported device - some older phones/browsers won't show the scan option 2. Try using incognito/private browsing 3. Check if you have any browser extensions blocking scripts 4. If nothing else works, try on a completely different device 5. As a last resort, look for the "verify with video call" option which should be somewhere on the verification page as an alternative They also have a support chat but waiting times are ridiculous (2+ hours). If you can't get through with any of these methods, I'd recommend using claimyr.com to get a callback from an actual unemployment rep who can help bypass some of these technical issues. That's what finally worked for me after 3 days of trying.

I never saw a "verify with video call" option anywhere! Where exactly is that supposed to be? 😫

It should appear as a small link at the bottom of the verification page saying something like "unable to verify online?" or "need additional help?" - but honestly it disappears sometimes depending on what browser you're using. Complete madness.

I second the claimyr suggestion. After beating my head against the wall for days trying to reach someone, they got me connected to an agent who actually knew what they were doing.

idk if this helps but when I had this problem it was bcuz I was logged into TWO different ID.me accounts without realizing it (one from an old job verification). Delete all ur cookies, make sure ur only logged into ONE account, and then try again. The scan button should be there after you verify your email and phone number steps.

Omg I think this might be my problem! I did create an id.me account for something else a while back. Will try this!

Let me know if it works! That issue drove me CRAZY for days until I figured it out 😩

The NY unemployment system is a complete joke. Been dealing with their garbage for months. ID.me is just one of the many hurdles they throw at us to make it harder to get benefits we're entitled to. 🙄

For real. And they wonder why ppl give up on claiming what they deserve 🤡

Absolutely by design. They hope people just quit trying.

Had same issue but its because my adblocker was messing with the site. Try disabling any browser extensions if ur on desktop?

did u go completely through the initial verification steps? u gotta verify email, then verify phone number with a code, then answer identity questions (like previous addresses and stuff), THEN it will take you to the document upload and selfie page. If you skipped any of those steps or they didn't complete properly the button wont show.

I did the email and phone verification for sure, and I remember answering some questions about previous addresses. But then it just took me to a dashboard instead of a document upload page... So frustrating!

hmm that sounds like it might have glitched mid-process then. try logging out completely and start the verification process from the beginning by clicking the link in the original unemployment email. sometimes it gets stuck in a weird state.

Anyone else notice that all these government verification systems seem designed to fail? Been trying to get my benefits for 7 weeks now. Between ID.me issues, the ridiculous phone wait times, and claim "reviews" it feels like they're TRYING to make sure we give up. So sick of this system.

💯💯💯 They don't want to pay us what we deserve!

Yup. If they make the system impossibly frustrating, fewer people complete their claims = less money they have to pay out. Tale as old as time.

I swear they intentionally hire the most incompetent web developers possible. how hard is it to make a form that actually works?!?

Have you tried accessing ID.me directly (not through the unemployment portal)? Sometimes going to ID.me separately, completing verification there first, and then returning to unemployment works better. That fixed it for me.

If everything else fails, try going through the id.me help center to request a video call verification. Takes forever to get an appointment but they can manually verify you. I was in the same boat last month.

The video call wait times are insane tho. I waited 4 hours last week before I gave up.

Ya it's brutal. I got lucky and snagged a 6am appointment when not many people were in line. Still waited almost an hour tho.

When all else fails with the online stuff, I found the only real solution is talking to an actual human. After weeks of trying, I finally used claimyr.com and got a callback from unemployment in less than an hour. The agent helped me complete the verification over the phone and released my payments the same day. Sometimes you just gotta bypass the broken online systems completely.

did you have any issues with using that service? seems kinda sketchy to me

Yara Nassar

Not at all! It literally just holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me from waiting on hold for hours. My benefits got released right after talking to the agent they connected me with.

Waited MONTHS trying to fix my identity verification issues. Wish I'd known about this sooner!

Some phones cameras don't work with ID.me for some reason. My iPhone 7 would never pull up the camera but my friends newer Android worked fine. Try borrowing someone's phone maybe?
