NY unemployment login page not working today - anyone else locked out?

Is anyone else having trouble getting into the NY unemployment website this morning? I've been trying to log in since 7am to certify my weekly benefits but keep getting a blank screen after entering my NY.gov ID. Tried on both Chrome and Edge browsers, even restarted my computer. The site shows the login page fine but just hangs after I enter my password. Really need to certify today - I'm already a day late and worried about missing my payment. Anyone know if there's system maintenance or something going on?

It's been glitchy for me too since yesterday. I got in eventually by clearing my browser cache and cookies. Try that first. If it still doesn't work, they might be doing their system maintenance - they usually do it overnight Thursday into Friday, but sometimes it runs long. You have until Saturday midnight to certify, so don't panic yet.

The same thing is happening to me right now! I'm getting so frustrated because I have to certify today. I called the automated phone line (1-888-581-5812) and was able to certify that way instead. It's not ideal but it worked for me when the website wouldn't.

THIS WEBSITE IS TRASH!!!! Third time this month it's been down when I needed to use it. Why can't they fix this garbage?? My rent is due Monday and I NEED this payment to clear!!!!

I know it's frustrating. For future reference, try to certify earlier in your window so you have backup days in case of technical issues. The system tends to get overloaded on Fridays when everyone tries to certify at the last minute.

I work in IT and these kinds of issues are pretty common with government sites. It might be database maintenance, server updates, or just high traffic volume. A few troubleshooting tips: 1. Try using incognito/private browsing mode 2. Clear your cache and cookies as someone mentioned 3. Try a completely different browser (Firefox if you've been using Chrome/Edge) 4. Try from a different device (phone instead of computer) If none of that works, the automated phone system is reliable for certification. The number is 1-888-581-5812 for regular UI benefits.

I had this exact problem last month. The phone line was constantly busy too. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. They have this service that calls NYSDOL for you and connects you when an agent picks up. Saved me hours of redial hell. Worth trying if the automated line doesn't work either.

I'm having a different issue now. I got through on the automated phone line and certified, but it said my benefits might be delayed. Has anyone experienced that message before? Should I be worried?

That's a standard message they give when you certify via phone. As long as you answered all the questions correctly, your payment should process normally. It might take an extra day compared to the website, but it will go through.

Just an update for everyone - the NY DOL just posted on their Twitter account that they're experiencing technical difficulties with the online system and are working to resolve it. They recommend using the automated phone system (1-888-581-5812) to certify in the meantime. They expect the website to be back up by 3pm today.

Just want to give everyone a heads up - when this happened back in February, some people who certified by phone had their payments delayed by 2-3 days. It's not a big deal but just so you're not surprised if it doesn't hit your account on the usual day.
