NY unemployment website completely down when trying to certify weekly benefits?
Tried to log into my ny unemployment account this morning to certify my weekly benefits and the site is completely unresponsive. I get to the login page, enter my username/password and then it just spins forever. Tried again on my phone thinking maybe its just my laptop acting up, but same issue. Been trying for about 3 hours now and still nothing. Is anyone else experiencing this? Getting really anxious since I need to certify by tomorrow or I'll miss this week's payment. Already behind on rent for November and can't afford another delay. Anyone know if theres a maintenance announcement I missed or if there's another way to certify? Tried calling the automated line but it's saying my PIN isn't working.

Yep, site is down for me too since around 9am. I keep getting stuck at the login page or sometimes it loads halfway then crashes. Typical NY unemployment bs on the busiest certification day š

ā¢Glad it's not just me! Any idea how long these outages usually last? This is only my second month on unemployment.

ā¢Could be hours, could be all day... Thats the fun part, you never know! Last time this happened to me it was back up around 6pm.

ā¢They always seem to have these "technical issues" on Mondays when everyone needs to certify š¤ Makes you wonder...

After dealing with the same exact problem (couldn't login for 2 days), I finally got through to an actual human being who fixed everything for me. Used this service called claimyr.com and they got me a callback with a real agent who pushed through my certification. Talking to an agent got my payment processed that day - honestly was the only way I could get through. Check out this video on how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢this sounds like one of those scam things... does it actually work?

ā¢Yeah I get why you'd be suspicious, I was too. But it actually connects you with the REAL unemployment office. They just handle the hold time for you. No different than if you called yourself, except you don't waste hours on hold.

ā¢wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? the unemployment system is so broken i'm ready to try anything tbh

ā¢It worked for me! The agent I talked to was definitely from the actual NY unemployment office. They just got me past the hold queue. My payment processed same day after being stuck for weeks.

ā¢hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

ā¢The difference is they don't claim to BE unemployment - they just connect you directly with the real office. Talking to an actual agent was what fixed my issue, and that's all claimyr.com does - gets you that connection without the 5 hour hold time.

Have you tried clearing cookies and cache? Sometimes that fixes it. If not try different browser. I was having same issue last week with Chrome but it worked on Firefox.

The website is total garbage. I couldn't certify for THREE WEEKS back in September because of "technical issues" and had to call them 26 times to fix it. Then they made me verify my identity AGAIN even though I already did that when I first applied. The whole system needs to be thrown in the trash šļø

ā¢Omg THIS!!! They made me verify my ID three times!!! Like do they just lose the information or what??

ā¢For real! And then they act like its YOUR fault when their system messes up. I had to upload the same documents like 4 times

I'm having the exact same problem right now. Been trying since 8am. Called the automated line at 1-888-581-5812 and that seems to be down too. Starting to panic because I'm already behind on bills.

Maybe try the mobile app? Sometimes that works when the website is down. Although last time I tried the app it crashed every time I hit submit lol š

ā¢There's an app!? How did I not know this?

ā¢Yeah its called "NYS DOL" on the app store. But honestly its just as buggy as the website. Sometimes works when the site doesnt tho

It's probably because everyone is trying to certify on Monday. Try again later tonight around 11pm when less people are on the site.

The automated phone system is working again! Just got through at 1-888-581-5812. You can certify that way if the website is still down.

ā¢Thank you!! Will try that now.

ā¢it asked for a pin and i dont remember setting one up? anyone know what the pin is or how to reset it?

ā¢It's usually the last 4 of your SSN if you never set one up. If that doesn't work you might have to call during business hours to reset it.

Here's what you need to know about these ny unemployment website issues: These outages happen pretty regularly, especially on Mondays when claim volume is highest. I've been on unemployment since June and have seen this happen at least 5-6 times. Some tips that might help: ā¢ Try certifying very early in the morning (like 6-7am) or late at night (after 10pm) when server load is lower ā¢ The automated phone system at 1-888-581-5812 is a decent backup, but it can also get overwhelmed ā¢ Clear your cache/cookies or use private browsing mode ā¢ Try a completely different device if possible ā¢ If all else fails and you're desperate to talk to someone, claimyr.com is actually legit. I was skeptical too but used them twice when I had serious issues that needed immediate attention. They got me through to an agent when I couldn't get through after days of trying Don't panic if you can't certify today - technically you have until Saturday to certify for this week. But if it's still not working tomorrow, you might want to consider getting on the phone with an agent to have them manually process your certification. The system is incredibly frustrating but hang in there!

ā¢Thank you so much for the detailed help! Good to know about the Saturday deadline - that takes some pressure off.

ā¢another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol... but ngl I might try that claimyr thing if this isnt fixed by tomorrow

ā¢I get the skepticism - I felt the same way. But when you've been trying to get through for days and your rent is due, it's worth it. At least it connects you with the actual DOL agents who can help.

This is so crazy frustrating!! Have you tried using a different browser? Chrome doesn't work for me but Safari sometimes does.

Anyone else notice these "technical issues" always happen right when they need to pay out a lot of benefits? Seems sus to me...

Ally Tailer
ā¢Yep! It's almost like they're hoping people will give up and not certify š§

ā¢Not everything is a conspiracy theory guys. Their systems are just outdated and can't handle high volume.

ā¢Idk man, it's pretty convenient that it's ALWAYS down on certification days. Never seems to break when you're just checking your account š¤·āāļø

Pro tip: if the website is down, you can also certify by calling 1-888-581-5812. The automated system is annoying but at least it works when the site doesn't.

So I finally got through to someone after spending my ENTIRE day on this. I used claimyr.com after seeing it mentioned here and it actually worked. They got me a callback from unemployment in about 40 minutes. Agent told me the system was having issues but she was able to certify for me manually. Just sharing in case anyone else is desperate like I was!

Finley Garrett
ā¢yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? š
0 coins
Cass Green
ā¢No catch, it just connects you with the actual unemployment office. You're talking to the same reps you would if you called yourself. They just handle the hold time.

ā¢It worked for me! After struggling all day with the website, I had my certification done within an hour of using their service.
