EDD UI Online login button suddenly not working - site glitch or maintenance?

Is anyone else having trouble with the EDD website right now? I've been trying to log into my UI Online account since this morning to certify for my weekly benefits, but the login button seems completely unresponsive. I click it and nothing happens - no error message, no page loading, nothing! I've tried different browsers (Chrome and Firefox), cleared my cache, and even restarted my computer. Still nothing. The strange thing is I can navigate to other parts of the EDD website just fine.\n\nCould this be some kind of maintenance they're doing? I don't see any announcements about it. I really need to certify today since I'm already late on my rent payment and can't afford any delays. Anyone experiencing the same issue or know what's going on?

yep same here, login button totally dead since last night. tried on my phone too and same problem. typical edd bs right when i need to check on my pending payment

Glad it's not just me! Have you tried calling them yet? I'm worried about missing my certification deadline.

EDD usually does system maintenance on weekends, particularly Sunday morning from around 6am to 12pm. During this time the login functionality can be glitchy or completely unavailable. If you're trying during these hours, that's likely the issue. They don't always post notices about routine maintenance.\n\nIf you're attempting outside that timeframe, it could be an unexpected technical issue. In that case, I'd recommend:\n\n1. Try using a different device entirely if possible\n2. Use the mobile version of the site instead of desktop\n3. Check if you have any browser extensions that might be blocking scripts\n4. Try using incognito/private browsing mode\n\nIf you're concerned about certification deadlines, remember you typically have a 14-day window to certify for benefits. The system should be back up well before that window closes.

Thanks for the detailed response! I'm actually trying at 2pm on a Tuesday, so it's definitely not the regular maintenance window. I'll try incognito mode next - haven't thought of that! Really appreciate the tips.

omg im having the EXACT same problem!!! been trying since 8am and nothing works. so frustrating cuz my rent is due friday and i NEED this payment to clear!!! why does edd always break when we need it most??? 😡😡😡

This happened to me last month. The issue was actually with the EDD's security certificate expiring on some browsers. A workaround that fixed it for me:\n\n1. Try using Microsoft Edge (I know, not many people use it, but for some reason it worked)\n2. Make sure your system date and time are set correctly - this can affect certificate validation\n3. Temporarily disable any security software that might be blocking the connection\n\nAlso, for anyone worried about certification deadlines - if the system truly is down, EDD usually extends the deadline automatically. They can see when their systems were unavailable.

I was having this EXACT problem yesterday and wasted 3 hours trying different things! Turns out it was actually my adblocker causing the issue. When I disabled it on the EDD site, the login button started working immediately. Some recent update must have changed how their login system works.\n\nIf that doesn't work and you urgently need to reach someone at EDD about this or any claim issues, I recently used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it helped me get through to a rep in about 20 minutes when I was calling for days with no luck. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km\n\nBut try the adblocker solution first - it might save you a lot of headaches!

I don't think I have an adblocker installed, but I'll double check. Thanks for the Claimyr tip - might need that if I can't get this resolved soon! I've been trying to get through on the phone without success.

Is that Claimyr thing legit? Seems sketchy to pay someone just to call EDD for you...

It doesn't call for you - it basically helps you skip the \

Actually, I just got off the phone with EDD (took forever to get through). They confirmed they're having issues with the login button on UI Online that their IT team is working on. The representative couldn't give me an exact timeframe but said they're hoping to have it fixed by end of day.\n\nIn the meantime, she suggested trying to access your account via direct URL if you have it bookmarked or in your history. Apparently some people can bypass the login page issue that way since the problem is specifically with the button on the main page.\n\nIf that doesn't work and you absolutely need to certify today, they said you can also call the automated phone certification system at 1-866-333-4606.

This is super helpful! I actually do have the direct URL bookmarked from before. I'll try that right away. Thank you so much for sharing what you learned!

anyone else notice that edd website always breaks right when its time to certify? happens like EVERY other sunday i swear they do it on purpose to save money or somethin 🙄

Yup! I've noticed the exact same pattern. System is

While it may seem that way, the system experiences higher traffic during certification periods, which can cause performance issues. The maintenance windows are actually scheduled during these times because that's when they need to handle the increased load. It's not a conspiracy to prevent payments.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that using the direct URL method worked for me! Instead of going through the main EDD page, I used my bookmarked link that goes straight to the UI Online login screen. The button works fine there! I was able to certify for my weeks.\n\nFor anyone who doesn't have it bookmarked, try this (remove the spaces): https:// portal.edd.ca.gov/WebApp/Login?resource_url=https%3A%2F%2Fportal.edd.ca.gov%2FWebApp%2FHome\n\nHope this helps others who are stuck!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! this worked for me too!!! you just saved me from missing rent payment ❤️❤️❤️

Great solution! This is actually a common workaround for many government websites when they have partial outages. Bookmarking direct URLs to key system pages can save a lot of frustration.

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's dealt with this before - the direct URL workaround Miguel shared is gold! I've had this exact same login button issue multiple times over the past year and that method has worked every single time. Pro tip: I'd recommend everyone bookmark that direct login URL now while it's working, because this seems to be a recurring problem with EDD's main page. Also, if you're on mobile, sometimes switching between the mobile site and desktop version can help too. Really glad people were able to get their certifications done! Missing those deadlines is so stressful when you're already dealing with financial pressure.

This is such valuable advice! I'm definitely bookmarking that direct URL right now. It's so frustrating when you're already stressed about money and then the system decides to break down. Thanks for the mobile tip too - I never thought to try switching between mobile and desktop versions when one isn't working. This community is honestly a lifesaver for navigating all these EDD issues!

I'm so glad to see this thread with all the helpful solutions! I've been lurking in this community for a while as someone who's had to navigate EDD issues, and this is exactly the kind of collaborative problem-solving that makes such a difference. The direct URL workaround is brilliant - I just bookmarked it myself even though I'm not currently having login issues, because based on what everyone's saying, this seems to be a recurring problem. It's really frustrating how these technical glitches always seem to happen at the worst possible times when people are already stressed about finances. But seeing everyone jump in to help each other with different solutions (Edge browser, disabling adblockers, direct URLs, phone certification) really restores my faith in community support. For anyone still having issues, I'd also suggest trying to clear your browser's SSL state/certificates if the other solutions don't work - sometimes that can resolve certificate-related login problems too. You can usually find this under your browser's advanced security or privacy settings.
