EDD UI Online login stuck on loading screen - can't access my account

I'm having the most frustrating issue with the EDD website. When I log into UI Online with my username and password, the site accepts my credentials but then just stays on a loading screen forever. I never get redirected to my account dashboard. I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Edge), cleared my cache/cookies, and even tried on my phone but nothing works. This has been happening for 3 days now and I need to certify by Sunday! Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions to fix it? I'm worried about missing my certification and losing benefits.

same thing happened to me last week! their website is such trash. i had to keep trying at different times of the day, eventually it worked at like 6am when maybe less people were on?? worth a shot

Thanks for the tip. I'll try early morning tomorrow. Did you have any issues with your certification being late because of this?

This is likely related to the scheduled system maintenance they've been doing. EDD typically performs updates on their UI Online system Wednesday nights through Thursday mornings. A few things to try: 1. Make sure you're using the direct UI Online login page (not going through the main EDD portal) 2. Try using incognito/private browsing mode 3. If you're using any browser extensions or VPN, disable them temporarily 4. Wait at least 30 minutes after entering credentials - sometimes the redirect is extremely slow If none of these work, you might need to call EDD technical support at 1-833-978-2511 to report the issue and get it resolved before your certification deadline.

Thank you so much for these detailed suggestions! I didn't realize they did maintenance on Wednesdays. I'll try the incognito mode right away and see if that works. I'm nervous about missing my certification window.

This! I had the exact same issue and it was because my internet was being weird. Try resetting your router too!

I've had this issue happen twice now. It's actually due to an account lock that happens sometimes when there are too many login attempts or when their system flags something as suspicious. The weird part is they don't tell you it's locked - it just looks like the site is broken. You need to call EDD directly at 1-800-300-5616 to have them unlock your account. The problem is getting through on that number is nearly impossible. I was trying for days with no luck - constant busy signals or disconnects. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The agent confirmed my account was locked, unlocked it, and I was able to log in immediately after. Might be worth trying if you're running out of time before your certification deadline.

Wait, so it could actually be a locked account even though it's not telling me that? That's so frustrating! I'll check out that service if I can't get through tomorrow. I didn't know there were ways to get past the busy signals.

THE EDD WEBSITE IS GARBAGE!!!! I've been dealing with this EXACT issue for WEEKS and lost benefits because I couldn't certify on time. They CLAIM they'll backdate it but I'm STILL waiting for payment. The WHOLE system needs to be rebuilt from SCRATCH!!!

While the system has issues, they actually do backdate payments for technical problems if you can document your attempts to certify. Call and request a ticket number for each attempt to log in and save screenshots of error messages. This creates a paper trail that helps when appealing delayed certifications.

This problem usually stems from session cookies not clearing properly. Try these steps in exact order: 1. Clear browser cache and cookies specifically for edd.ca.gov domain 2. Restart your browser (don't just close tabs) 3. Disable any password managers temporarily 4. Go directly to https://portal.edd.ca.gov/WebApp/Login?resource_url=https://uio.edd.ca.gov/UIO/Pages/Public/ExternalUser/UIOnlineLandingPage.aspx 5. Enter credentials manually (don't use autofill) 6. If the loading screen appears, wait exactly 2 minutes before refreshing If it still doesn't work after these steps, the issue is likely on EDD's end. In that case, you can certify by phone using TeleCert at 1-866-333-4606 until the website issue is resolved.

Thank you for these detailed steps! I'll try them right now. I didn't know about the TeleCert option - that's a great backup plan if I still can't get in by the deadline. Really appreciate the help!

When I had this problem last year it was because my account was flagged for ID verification but the notification got stuck in their system. Weird thing is I had already done ID.me but they needed me to do it again? The whole thing is just a mess honestly.

UPDATE: I followed everyone's advice and tried early this morning (5:30am) using incognito mode with all extensions disabled. It worked! I was able to get in and complete my certification. Thank you all so much for your help! For anyone else having this issue, try during off-peak hours and definitely use incognito mode.

Great to hear! Yes, the EDD system definitely performs better during off-peak hours. I'd still recommend contacting them to report the issue so they're aware of the ongoing technical problems.

Glad to hear you got it working! For future reference, if anyone else runs into this issue, you can also try switching your network connection (like using mobile data instead of wifi or vice versa). Sometimes the EDD system has issues with certain ISPs or network configurations. Also worth bookmarking the direct UI Online login URL that Andre shared - going through the main EDD portal sometimes causes additional loading issues. The early morning trick is definitely the most reliable workaround when their servers are overloaded.

That's such a helpful tip about switching network connections! I never would have thought of that. I'm definitely bookmarking that direct login URL too. It's crazy how many workarounds we all have to figure out just to access basic services. Thanks for sharing these additional solutions - I'm sure they'll help other people dealing with this frustrating issue!

Just want to add another potential solution that worked for me when I had the same loading screen issue - try using a different device entirely if possible. I was stuck on my laptop for hours, but when I tried logging in from my tablet, it worked immediately. Sometimes the EDD system seems to have device-specific glitches that don't make any sense. Also, if you're using any ad blockers or privacy extensions, try disabling those too. The EDD site is notoriously finicky with browser security settings. Really glad to see Nia got it resolved though - that early morning approach seems to be the most reliable fix!

That's a really good point about trying different devices! I never would have thought the EDD system could be that picky about specific devices, but honestly nothing surprises me anymore with their website. The ad blocker tip is smart too - I bet a lot of people don't realize those extensions can interfere. It's ridiculous that we all have to become tech troubleshooting experts just to file for unemployment benefits, but I'm grateful for communities like this where we can share what actually works. Hopefully all these solutions will help the next person who runs into this nightmare!

I'm new to this community but wanted to share something that might help others avoid this issue in the future. I learned from my caseworker that the EDD system actually has "maintenance windows" that aren't always announced publicly - usually Tuesday nights 11pm-2am and Wednesday nights 11pm-6am PST. She told me to avoid logging in during these times if possible. Also, if you're planning to certify, try to do it at least 2-3 days before your deadline rather than waiting until the last day, since that's when the system gets the most traffic and is most likely to have these loading issues. I know it's frustrating that we have to work around their broken system, but hopefully this timing info helps someone avoid the stress that Nia went through!

Welcome to the community! That's incredibly valuable information about the maintenance windows - I wish EDD made this more transparent on their website. It's so helpful to know the specific Tuesday and Wednesday night timeframes to avoid. Your caseworker sounds really knowledgeable! The tip about certifying 2-3 days early is brilliant too. I learned this the hard way when I waited until Sunday night and couldn't get in. Now I always try to certify on Thursday or Friday when possible. Thanks for sharing this insider knowledge - it could save a lot of people from the panic and stress of last-minute technical issues!

This whole thread is such a lifesaver! I'm bookmarking it because I know I'll probably run into this issue again. The EDD website seems to break in new and creative ways every few months. One thing I wanted to add - if you're still having trouble after trying all these solutions, don't forget that you can also visit a local America's Job Center of California (AJCC) office if there's one near you. They have computers and staff who can help you log in and certify in person. I had to do this once when their system was down for days and I was about to miss my certification window. Not the most convenient option, but it's there as a last resort. Really appreciate everyone sharing their workarounds - this community is way more helpful than EDD's actual tech support!

That's such a great point about the AJCC offices! I had no idea they could help with UI Online issues - that's definitely worth knowing as a backup option. It's honestly sad that we need so many workarounds just to access basic unemployment services, but I'm really grateful for threads like this where everyone shares what actually works. The fact that this community provides better tech support than EDD's official channels says everything about the state of their system. Thanks for mentioning the in-person option - I'm sure that could be a lifesaver for people who aren't as tech-savvy or don't have multiple devices to try!
