Is EDD website down? Can't login to UI Online since early morning

Been trying to access UI Online since 6:30 AM to certify for my weekly benefits, but the site just keeps loading forever and eventually times out. Is anyone else having issues accessing the EDD website today? I'm getting really stressed since today's my certification day and I can't afford any delays in my payments. Already tried different browsers and clearing cookies - nothing works! Is this a widespread outage or just something on my end?

Thanks for confirming! Any idea how long these outages usually last? This is my first time experiencing it on certification day.

The EDD site is experiencing technical difficulties today. This happens periodically, especially during high-traffic periods like Sunday mornings when many people certify. According to the EDD Twitter account, they're aware of the issue and working on it. You typically have until 11:59 PM to complete your certification, so I wouldn't worry too much yet. Keep trying every hour or so - these outages usually resolve within 4-6 hours.

Typical EDD!! 🙄 Their systems are ALWAYS crashing when people need them most! I've been dealing with them for months and it's ALWAYS something. Website down, phone lines busy, payments delayed. They should've upgraded their technology YEARS ago instead of making us suffer through these constant outages. I'm still waiting on payments from 3 weeks ago because of their "technical issues"!!

I had the same problem around 8am but just checked now (10:45am) and it's working for me. Try clearing your browser cache completely or using a different device. Sometimes their mobile site works when the desktop version is down. Don't stress too much - even if you can't certify today, you can still do it tomorrow without penalty. EDD gives a small grace period.

yep just started working for me too. weird that they never announce these maintenance periods ahead of time. like why not do updates at 3am instead of peak certification hours?? just logged in and certified in like 2 mins so should be back up for everyone

If you're still having trouble accessing the website later today (or anytime you have urgent EDD questions), try Claimyr (claimyr.com). I used their service last month when I couldn't reach anyone about my missing payment. They got me connected to an actual EDD representative in about 20 minutes instead of calling for days with no response. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Super helpful when the website is down and you need immediate answers about your certification or payment status.

Thanks for the suggestion! The site's working now but I'll definitely keep this in mind for future issues. Been trying to reach someone about why my payment was lower than expected for weeks with no luck.

This happens to me ALL THE TIME actually. Not just today. My internet at home is kinda spotty so I can never tell if it's EDD or my connection lol. I've started going to the library just to certify because their wifi is more reliable. But yeah like others said it's probably just EDD being EDD.

One thing I've noticed is that the site tends to work better very early morning (like 5am) or late evening after 8pm. Less traffic I guess. I started doing all my EDD stuff during those off-hours and rarely have issues now.

Update: Site is working now! Just certified without any issues. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I'll definitely try to certify during off-hours next time to avoid the stress!

Glad you got it sorted out! For future reference, I always recommend bookmarking the EDD mobile site as a backup - m.edd.ca.gov. It's usually more stable during outages and loads faster on slower connections. Also, if you ever miss your certification day due to technical issues like this, you can call the UI customer service line and explain the situation. They'll usually allow you to certify over the phone without any penalties. Just make sure to document when you tried to access the site (screenshots help) in case you need proof later.

This is super helpful info! I had no idea about the mobile site backup option. Bookmarking that now. Also good to know about calling if I miss certification due to technical issues - I was worried I'd lose benefits if I couldn't certify on the exact day. Thanks for the peace of mind and practical tips!

I've been dealing with EDD site issues for months now and here's what I've learned: always have a backup plan! I keep both the regular site and mobile version bookmarked, plus I screenshot my certification attempts with timestamps in case I need proof later. The site usually crashes during peak hours (weekends, holidays, first/last days of the month) so I try to certify either super early morning or late evening. Also found that using incognito mode sometimes helps when the regular browser isn't working. Really frustrating that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access our benefits though!

This is exactly the kind of advice I wish I'd had when I first started dealing with EDD! The screenshot tip is brilliant - never thought about documenting my attempts but that's such smart planning. I'm definitely going to start using incognito mode too. It's ridiculous that we need all these workarounds just to access basic services, but at least knowing these tricks can save a lot of stress and headaches. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Just wanted to add my experience - I've found that the EDD site issues are often related to their security updates and maintenance windows. I work in IT and noticed they tend to do backend updates on Sunday mornings which can cause these random outages. What's frustrating is they rarely announce planned maintenance in advance. One trick I've discovered is checking their system status on social media before trying to log in - saves time and stress. Also, if you're ever stuck and need to reach someone urgently, the local WorkSource offices can sometimes help with basic certification issues over the phone, though they have limited hours on weekends.

That's really insightful about the backend updates! Makes total sense that they'd do maintenance on Sunday mornings but you're absolutely right - they should give us a heads up. I had no idea about checking their social media for status updates, that's a great tip. Also didn't know about the WorkSource offices being able to help with certification - that could be a real lifesaver during emergencies. Thanks for sharing your IT perspective on this, it helps explain why these outages seem to happen at the worst possible times!

I'm new to the EDD system and this thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm currently waiting for my claim to be approved but it's reassuring to know that these site outages are somewhat normal (though frustrating). I've bookmarked all the backup options mentioned here - the mobile site, incognito mode, and following their social media for updates. Question for the group: when these outages happen during certification periods, does it typically delay payment processing even after the site comes back up? Or do payments still go out on schedule once you're able to certify? Just trying to understand what to expect since I'll hopefully be certifying for the first time soon.

Welcome to the EDD journey! From my experience, once you're able to certify (even if it's later due to site issues), payments typically process on their normal schedule. I've had to certify late due to outages a few times and still got paid on the usual day - Tuesday or Wednesday depending on your last name. The key is just getting that certification in before the deadline, which is usually 11:59 PM on your certification day. EDD seems to batch process all certifications regardless of what time they were submitted that day. Just make sure to keep trying throughout the day if you hit technical issues, and don't panic if you can't get in right away. Good luck with your claim approval!

As someone who's been navigating EDD for over a year now, I can confirm this is unfortunately pretty typical. The site goes down almost every weekend during peak certification hours - it's like they never anticipated that most people would try to certify on Sunday mornings! I've learned to always have a backup plan: mobile site bookmarked, screenshots ready, and I even keep the EDD phone number saved just in case. Pro tip: if you're ever completely locked out on your certification day, don't panic. You can usually still certify the next day without penalties, and worst case scenario, you can call and explain the technical difficulties. They're actually pretty understanding about site outages since it happens so frequently. Glad to see the site is back up for most people now though!
