EDD website won't load for certification - stuck spinning for hours

Is anyone else having serious problems with the EDD website today? I've been trying to certify for my benefits since 8AM this morning and the page just keeps spinning and timing out. I've tried 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and even Edge) and nothing works! It gets to the certification page and then just spins endlessly until I get a timeout error. My benefits will be delayed if I can't certify today and I REALLY can't afford that right now. My rent is due next week. Anyone else experiencing this or know if the system is down? Any tricks to get through? I'm seriously stressing out right now.

Same here. Been trying since 6am and can't get past the spinning circle. Called their tech support line and got disconnected twice after waiting 45 minutes. Seems like their system is completely overwhelmed today. Probably because it's the last Sunday of the month and everyone's trying to certify at once.

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for confirming I'm not the only one at least. Do you know if there's a grace period for certification? Like if we can't certify today because THEIR system is down, will they still pay us on time?

Thanks, I'll try that now. Didn't think about the cell data connection idea, that's smart!

This happens EVERY CERTIFICATION WEEKEND! The EDD system is completely outdated and can't handle the traffic. I've been on unemployment for 8 months and I've learned to certify at odd hours. Try again around midnight tonight or early tomorrow morning (like 4-5am). Usually works for me when the server load is lower. You have until Wednesday before they mark your certification as late, so don't panic yet.

Thank you so much for this info! I didn't know we had until Wednesday. That's a huge relief. I'll try the midnight trick tonight.

This was happening to me too!! I was freaking out because I'm already in pending for my last payment and now I can't even certify for this one?? Typical EDD nonsense. I swear they make it difficult on purpose.

I've had this issue multiple times and found a few reliable workarounds: 1. Try certifying through UI Mobile instead of the regular website - sometimes one works when the other doesn't 2. Clear your browser cache completely or use incognito/private browsing mode 3. If you're on Wi-Fi, try switching to cellular data as mentioned above 4. Wait until non-peak hours (very early morning or late night) Important: You actually have until Saturday next week to certify without any payment delay. The Wednesday deadline mentioned earlier is when they start considering it late, but benefits aren't affected until after Saturday. The best times I've found for certifying are Monday morning between 6-7am or Tuesday night after 10pm when traffic is lower.

Thank you SO MUCH for this detailed explanation! I'll definitely try the UI Mobile suggestion. I didn't even know that was an option! And that's great news about having until Saturday. Seriously appreciate your help.

If you absolutely need to reach an EDD representative about this issue, I highly recommend Claimyr. After struggling with the website for days last month, I used their service to get through to EDD. It was so much easier than trying to call myself - their system automatically connects you when an agent is available. Saved me from the endless busy signals and disconnects. Check out their demo video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to look into it. Honestly saved my sanity after days of trying to get through.

Is that service legit? I'm always skeptical of third-party stuff related to my unemployment claim. Has anyone else used it?

It's legitimate - I've used it twice when I had serious claim issues. Just be aware that it only helps you get connected to an actual EDD representative faster. They don't process your claim or have any control over EDD decisions.

this happens ALL THE TIME with edd website. i think they need to spend some of our tax dollars on better servers!! lol. but seriously tho you should be able to certify tomorrow no problem. they always have issues on sundays when everyone is trying to certify at once. i always do mine on mondays now and never have problems.

UPDATE: I finally got through! I took everyone's advice and tried at 1am using my phone data instead of WiFi, and it worked! The page loaded right away with no spinning circle. Just certified for both weeks. Thank you all for your help and suggestions!!

Great news! Glad it worked out. Now you know for next time - avoid Sundays for certification if possible!
