EDD UI Online system down or just my account? System errors for 3 days straight

I've been trying to access my UI Online account since Monday and keep getting this weird error message saying 'Service Unavailable' or sometimes 'The system is currently unavailable due to technical difficulties.' It's super frustrating because I need to certify by tomorrow! I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, even Edge), cleared my cookies, tried on my phone, and nothing works. My internet is fine because every other website loads normally. Is the EDD system down for maintenance or something? Anyone else having this problem or is it just my account? Starting to panic because I really can't afford to miss this certification period...

This happened to me yesterday morning too, but it finally started working again around 5pm. EDD systems sometimes go down for maintenance, but they don't always announce it. Try accessing the site very early in the morning (like 5am) or late at night after 10pm when there's less traffic. Also, the mobile version sometimes works when the desktop version doesn't - try specifically requesting the mobile site in your browser settings.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try late tonight. Do you think it would affect my certification being processed if I do it on the last day? So stressed about this!

its down for EVERYONE trust me... my neighbor and my sister both having same issue. EDD always does this BS when its time to certify. they dont care that we need $$ to pay bills!!

It's not down for everyone. I just logged in fine 10 minutes ago and certified. It might be affecting specific accounts or regions. Try clearing your browser cache completely (not just cookies) and restarting your computer. Also check if your account is locked - sometimes they don't send notifications about security issues.

Have u tried on a different device? My laptop wouldn't work but my tablet did for some reason

I tried on my laptop and phone, but I could ask my roommate if I can use her iPad. Worth a shot I guess!

This is a common issue with EDD's UI Online system, especially during high-traffic periods. Some technical things to try: 1. Clear your browser cache completely (not just cookies) 2. Try incognito/private browsing mode 3. Disable any ad blockers or VPN if you're using them 4. Check if you can access the mobile version specifically If none of that works, you might need to contact EDD directly about your account. If you're getting close to your certification deadline, you should try calling them. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) last month when I had a similar issue and they got me connected to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Worst case scenario, if you miss your certification deadline due to technical issues, you can file for what's called a "Good Cause" extension, but you'll need to document your attempts to access the system.

Thanks for all these suggestions! I tried incognito mode but not disabling my ad blocker, so I'll give that a shot. If I can't get in by tonight, I might try that Claimyr service. Did they actually help fix your account issue or just got you connected to someone?

They just help you get connected to an EDD rep quickly instead of dealing with busy signals and hangups. The EDD rep I spoke with was able to manually certify me over the phone when I couldn't access the system. Just make sure you have all your work search information ready if they need to manually certify you.

I've been dealing with EDD for almost 2 years now (sadly) and I've noticed this happens pretty regularly around the 1st and 15th of each month when most people are certifying. I've learned to always certify as soon as the system allows me to (usually Sunday morning) rather than waiting until the deadline. If you absolutely cannot get in and your certification deadline is tomorrow, you can try calling the telecerti number at 1-866-333-4606. It's ancient technology but sometimes works when the website is down. You'll need your Customer Account Number and PIN though. Also, even if you miss your certification deadline by a day or two due to technical issues, you can still certify late - you'll just need to provide a reason, and "EDD system unavailable" is a valid reason they accept.

I had no idea about the telecerti option! I'll try that as a last resort. And good to know about being able to certify late if needed. That takes some pressure off. Thanks for the info!

SUCCESS!! I tried at 11:30pm last night using Microsoft Edge with my ad blocker disabled, and it finally worked! Was able to certify with no problems once I got in. Thanks everyone for all your help - saved me a lot of stress!

Glad you got it working! For future reference, I've found that EDD's system tends to have issues during peak hours (usually weekdays 9am-5pm) and around certification deadlines. I always bookmark both the regular UI Online site AND the mobile version (m.edd.ca.gov) because sometimes one works when the other doesn't. Also, if you ever run into this again, try switching your VPN location if you use one - sometimes certain IP ranges get temporarily blocked during system overloads. The late night/early morning trick usually works because there's way less traffic on their servers then.

This is really helpful advice! I never knew about the mobile version having a separate URL. Definitely bookmarking that for next time. The VPN tip is interesting too - I don't use one but good to know in case I ever need to troubleshoot. Thanks for sharing these workarounds, seems like having backup plans is essential when dealing with EDD's system!

Just wanted to add another potential solution for anyone still struggling with this - if you're getting persistent "Service Unavailable" errors, try switching your DNS settings to Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare's (1.1.1.1). Sometimes ISP DNS servers have issues resolving EDD's servers properly, especially during high traffic periods. I had this exact same problem last month and changing my DNS fixed it immediately when nothing else worked. It's a simple change in your network settings and you can always switch back if it doesn't help. Worth trying before calling or using third-party services!

That's a really technical solution I wouldn't have thought of! DNS issues make total sense though - I've had similar problems with other government websites before. For anyone who's not super tech-savvy, changing DNS is actually pretty easy if you google "how to change DNS [your operating system]". Thanks for sharing this tip, it's definitely going in my troubleshooting toolkit for future EDD issues!

I'm dealing with something similar right now! Been trying to access UI Online since yesterday and getting intermittent "Service Unavailable" errors. What's weird is that sometimes I can get to the login page but then it times out when I try to actually log in. I noticed it seems to work better on my phone's mobile data versus my home WiFi - not sure if that's just coincidence or if there's something about certain network connections that EDD's system doesn't like. Has anyone else noticed differences between mobile data vs WiFi when accessing the site? Really hoping this gets resolved soon because I'm supposed to certify this weekend.

That's really interesting about the mobile data vs WiFi difference! I've actually experienced something similar with other websites before - sometimes there are routing issues between certain ISPs and specific servers. Your mobile carrier might be taking a different path to reach EDD's servers than your home internet provider. You could try using a mobile hotspot from your phone to see if your laptop works better that way, or try connecting to a different WiFi network if you have access to one (like a friend's house or public WiFi). Also, since you mentioned it works sometimes but times out during login, that sounds like it could be a session timeout issue - try logging in as quickly as possible once you get to the login page, and make sure you don't have any other EDD tabs open that might be conflicting.
