Lost access to ny unemployment weekly certification - what am I doing wrong?
So frustrated with the system right now. Been getting unemployment since October after my store closed down, and suddenly I can't figure out how to do my weekly certification. Last Sunday I logged in like normal but the option to certify wasn't there anymore. I tried clicking around different menus but nothing. Called the automated line and it just says I need to speak with a representative. Tried again yesterday with the same result. I really need this money to pay rent next month and can't afford to miss payments. Checked my email to see if there was any notification about my claim status changing but nothing there either. Anyone else having the same issue or know what I'm supposed to do? I've been hitting redial for hours trying to get through to an actual person.

This happened to me last month. They randomly suspended my account for "identity verification" without even telling me. Had to call in and prove I was me. Took like 6 days to get it fixed. The website never shows you whats really going on 🤦♂️

•How did you ever get through to a rep? I've been calling constantly and just get the automated message saying high call volume.

•It was impossible until I used Claimyr.com - they got me a callback from an agent within 2 hours when I'd been trying for days. Worth every penny cus I got my benefits back right away.

•I've heard about that service. Does it actually work? Seems suspicious that you can pay to skip the line somehow.

•100% worked for me. They just keep dialing and navigating the phone tree until they get through, then connect you with the agent. Saved me days of frustration and my benefits got fixed immediately.

After two weeks of failing to reach anyone at unemploymnet, I found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to a real agent! Check out this video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE It was literally the only way I could talk to a live agent. My certification issue got resolved in one call after the agent saw it was just a system glitch on their end.

•Is this for real? Sounds too good to be true tbh

•Yep! I was super skeptical too but I was desperate after trying everything. They basically stay on hold for you and then call your phone when a real person picks up. Talking to the agent got my money flowing again so fast.

•Does it work for all unemployment issues or just certain ones?

•Works for anything where you need to talk to an agent! My issue was certification related like OPs but my friend used it for an appeal thing too. Check out claimyr.com

There might be a hold on your account. This happens randomly and sometimes it's because they think someone else tried to log into your account. Sometimes they'll send a letter in the mail about this but usually with no explanation. You definitely need to talk to a rep.

ok so heres the thing with ny unemployment - they NEVER tell you when somethings wrong with your account. you have to notice it yourself and then spend days trying to talk to someone about it. happened to me 3 times already. so annoying.

•Facts. They expect us to be mind readers lmao. I just got an overpayment notice for something from 7 months ago with no explanation 🙄

Check your message inbox on the unemployment portal. Sometimes they send you a questionnaire or additional form to fill out before you can keep certifying. They don't email you about it - it just shows up in the portal inbox. This happened to me and I almost missed a payment because I didn't see it.

•Just checked and nothing there. The weird part is I can login fine but the certification option is just gone completely from my dashboard.

•Hmm thats deff not normal. Sounds like account suspension. You NEED to talk to someone. Good luck getting through tho... it's literally impossible these days

THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE US GIVE UP AND STOP COLLECTING WHAT WE'RE OWED!!!! They make it impossible to reach anyone, randomly lock accounts, hide important notices, and hope we just stop trying! THIS IS BY DESIGN PEOPLE!!!

I've had similar issues with ny unemployment certification before. Here's what you need to do: 1. First, try accessing the site from a different browser or clearing your cache/cookies. Sometimes it's just a technical glitch on your side. 2. If that doesn't work, check if there are any outstanding forms or questionnaires in your inbox that need to be completed before you can continue certifying. 3. Verify your benefit year hasn't ended - this can happen without notification and you'd need to reapply. 4. If you've exhausted regular UI benefits, you may need to apply for an extension program if eligible. 5. Most importantly - you NEED to speak with a representative. The only reliable way I found to get through was using claimyr.com. It's a service that gets you connected with a live unemployment agent within hours instead of days. They handled my certification problem in minutes once I actually got to speak with someone. The system is frustrating but don't give up - your benefits are your right and there's almost always a fix for these certification issues!

•Yes, it actually works. I was surprised too but it saved me when I was in OP's exact situation. They connect you with a real NYS agent who can fix things on their end immediately.

•I used it last month when my account got locked. Worked perfectly - had my issues fixed in one call.

They did this to me too! The certification option disappeared after I got a new job and reported some earnings. Turns out they needed additional info but never told me! Had to call in and they fixed it. Such a waste of time.

have u tried logging in through a different device? sometimes the mobile site shows different options than the desktop site. worth a shot before u go crazy trying to call in.

•Tried on my phone, laptop, and even my roommate's computer. Same result everytime - no certification option anywhere 😩

Calling is honestly the only way to fix it. I know it sucks but that's NY unemployment in a nutshell. I had to call 73 times before getting through last time I had an issue.

•73??? Amateur. Try 200+ calls over 3 days 😭😭😭

•Y'all should try claimyr.com - they call for you and connect you when an agent picks up. Saved me DAYS of frustration

Another possibility - are you still within your benefit year? Sometimes if you hit the end of your benefit year it automatically stops letting you certify and you have to file a new claim. Check when your benefit year started (should be on your monetary determination letter).

Did u answer YES to any questions during ur last certification? Sometimes if u say yes to being out of the country, refusing work, etc it will put a hold on future certifications until resolved by an agent.

•Nope, answered everything normal just like every week before. Nothing changed on my end.

Do you have a part time job? When I started working part time, I had similar issues with certification. If your employer reports your earnings to the state before you certify, sometimes it triggers weird system behaviors.

FYI - there is a seperate recertification phone number that sometimes works better than the main line: 1-888-209-8124. Follow the prompts for weekly certification issues specifically. It bypasses some of the regular call queues.

•Tried that number and it still tells me I need to speak to a rep 😫 Then transfers me to the same endless hold loop

check if you got an email about identity verification. my wife had the same issue and turns out they randomly selected her account for additional verification but the email went to her spam folder.
