NYDOL hearing request ghosted me - no reply for weeks. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I submitted a hearing request for my unemployment claim a while back, but I haven't heard anything back yet. No confirmation, no scheduled date, nothing. It's been radio silence and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next? I'm thinking about sending a follow-up email, but I'm not sure how to word it without sounding pushy. This whole process is so frustrating!

Ugh, I feel ya. The unemployment system is a total mess rn. I had the same issue last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Send a follow-up email (be polite but firm) 2. Call their main line every day (yeah, it sucks) 3. Check your spam folder religiously 4. If all else fails, contact your local rep Hang in there, buddy. It's a pain, but you'll get through it!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter. It might come in handy later.

•Trust me, I know it's a pain. But it worked for me. Squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that jazz 🤷♂️

•contacting your local rep is key. They can often cut thru the red tape faster than we can

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 🤬

•I get the skepticism, but it saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes they respond faster there. Worth a shot!

•This! Social media can be surprisingly effective. Public pressure works wonders.

I heard they're super backlogged because of covid. Might be why it's taking so long. Hang in there!

Pro tip: If you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Set that alarm clock! ⏰
