EDD silent for over a month after mailing paperwork - what to do?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with the unemployment office. I mailed in some important paperwork over a month ago and haven't heard anything back. It's been radio silence since February 4th. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? I'm starting to worry about my benefits being affected. Any advice on how to follow up or get a response from them?

Ugh, welcome to the club šŸ™„ I swear they must have a black hole where all our paperwork goes. I've been waiting for a response since DECEMBER. It's ridiculous how slow they are.

December?! That's insane. Have you tried calling them? I know its a pain, but sometimes thats the only way to get answers.

Trust me, I've tried calling. It's like trying to win the lottery. Either busy signals or hours on hold only to get disconnected. I'm at my wits end here 😫

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a month isn't even that long in EDD time. I've been waiting for 3 months on some paperwork I sent in. The system is completely overwhelmed. Here's what I've learned: • Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them • Send things certified mail if possible • Keep calling, even if it's frustrating • Check your online account regularly for updates • Consider reaching out to your local representative for help It sucks, but persistence is key. Don't give up!

Thanks for the detailed advice. I guess I need to adjust my expectations... 3 months, seriously? 😱 I'll definitely start calling more often. Did you have any luck with your local rep?

My rep's office was actually pretty helpful! They can't work miracles, but they did manage to get someone from EDD to call me back. It took about 2 weeks, but it was better than nothing.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam to get our info?

I get the skepticism, but I promise it's legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to connect the call.

Can confirm, I used this service last week. It's legit and saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

have u tried faxing? i know it sounds like were back in 1995 lol but i had some luck getting faster responses when i faxed my docs instead of mailing

This is why I always tell people to apply for jobs even while on unemployment. The system is so broken, you can't rely on it. Better to have options than to be stuck waiting for the government to get its act together.

Easier said than done in this economy, but you're not wrong. šŸ’Æ

Anyone else feel like they're screaming into the void when dealing with EDD? I swear, it's like they're purposely making it difficult for us to get help. 🤬

Preach! šŸ™Œ I'm convinced there's just one person working there, and they're on permanent lunch break.

It's a feature, not a bug. They hope we'll just give up and go away.

Hey OP, quick question - did you send your paperwork through regular mail or certified? Might be worth resending via certified mail so you can track it. Also, have you checked your online account for any updates? Sometimes they update there without sending a notification.

I sent it regular mail like an idiot šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø Definitely gonna use certified next time. And yeah, I've been checking my online account obsessively - no updates there either. Thanks for the suggestions though!
