NY unemployment payment missing for 9/15 - anyone else not getting paid this week?
So annoying. My regular payment that should have come in on Tuesday 9/15 never showed up in my account. I've checked my payment history and there's nothing listed for this week. My claim is definitely still active until 11/22/23 so I should be getting paid. Called the ny unemployment office like 20 times today and couldn't get through to anyone. The automated system just hangs up after putting me on hold. I know several people who have claims that expired in May and they're still getting their money without issues! This makes zero sense. Has anyone else not received their payment this week or know what's going on? I need that money for rent.

Yes! Same thing happened to me! My payment for 9/15 isn't showing up either. The payment history page just shows nothing for this week. I tried calling yesterday but gave up after being on hold for 2 hours. This is ridiculous.

•How long have you been on unemployment? I'm wondering if there's a pattern here.

I was having the exact same problem last week! After days of trying to reach someone at ny unemployment with no luck, I tried this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to a real person at NYSDOL in about 40 minutes. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast - totally worth it! There's a video explaining how it works here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•How does this even work? The phone lines are impossible to get through.

•They basically call repeatedly for you using some algorithm to navigate the phone system, then when they get a real person they connect the call to your phone. Saved me HOURS of frustration.

•wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? I've been struggling to reach anyone for 3 weeks

•It worked for me! Got connected to someone who fixed my claim in 10 minutes. My payment hit my account 2 days later. Try it yourself, seriously.

•another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol

•Not a company promising to fix unemployment - just a service that helps you actually TALK to unemployment. Big difference. They don't handle your claim, just get you through to an agent.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. Turns out there was a system glitch affecting people with birthdays in certain months (mine is October). Never got an explanation but my payment suddenly appeared 9 days late. Try checking your payment history every day and see if it eventually shows up.

This might be related to the system update they did last weekend. Saw on Twitter that a bunch of ppl had missing payments this week. They're saying it should be resolved by the 19th but who knows if thats true. Classic NY unemployment nonsense 🙄

•Do you have a link to that Twitter post? I haven't seen any announcements about an update.

•It wasnt an official announcement, just ppl talking about it. Search "NYSDOL system update" and you'll see the tweets

Hate to say it but try contacting your state rep. I had a similar issue in August and called 50+ times with no luck. Finally emailed my assembly person and got a call back from unemployment within 48 hours. Apparently state reps have a special line to DOL.

•How do you find your state rep? Never tried this before.

•Google "NY state assembly finder" - you put in your address and it tells you who represents your district. Then just go to their website and there's usually a "get help" form.

Listen everyone this happens ALL THE TIME with ny unemployment. Their systems are completely overwhelmed and outdated. I've been on unemployment since February and have had payments randomly not show up at least 4 times. Each time I panicked and each time the money eventually showed up 3-7 days late. DON'T PANIC YET.

•Thanks for the reassurance. I'll try to be patient but its hard when rent is due soon.

Check that your benefit year hasn't expired. Mine showed the wrong date online (said November but actually ended in September). Had to file a new claim even though the website showed I still had weeks left. The system is a MESS.

Have you been certifying at the same time each week? I found out the hard way that if you certify later than usual, it can delay your payment. Just a thought.

•Yeah I always certify Sunday morning right when the system opens up. Been doing that since day 1 with no issues til now.

If you're desperate to reach someone and nothing else works, here's what I've learned after being on unemployment for 9 months: The best solution I've found is using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that calls NYSDOL for you and connects you directly to an agent when they finally pick up. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after weeks of trying. If you want to try yourself: - Call right when they open (7:30am) - If that doesn't work, try calling at 7:29am and navigating the menu slowly so you hit the queue right as they open - Use multiple phones if possible - Thursday seems to be their least busy day - If the automated system says high call volume, hang up and redial immediately - Sometimes the Spanish line has shorter waits (you can ask for English) When you do reach someone, be super nice - these agents deal with angry people all day. Have your documents ready. Ask them to make notes on your account about the issue. Hope this helps someone!

sometimes they do random audits and freeze payments. did you get any letters or emails from them recently? check your spam folder too cuz thats where my important notices always end up smh

did u check ur payment history on the website? sometimes it doesn't hit ur bank account but shows as paid in the system. thats how u know if its a bank problem or unemployment problem

•Already checked payment history - nothing there for this week. That's what's worrying me.

Every time I've had a problem with NY unemployment, it's been some stupid technical glitch that fixed itself or an error on their end they never explained. If you've been getting paid regularly until now, chances are your payments will resume next week. Still try to reach someone though! You deserve answers.

My friend works for the state (not unemployment but another agency) and she said they've been having major server issues this month that are affecting multiple systems. Might explain the random payment delays people are experiencing.

make sure ur certifying correctly. a tiny mistake can pause ur payments. i accidentally said i wasn't available for work ONE WEEK and it took a month to fix 😡

the new york unemployment website has to be the most unreliable BS ever created. my advice - document EVERYTHING. take screenshots of your certifications, payment history, anything important. you'll need it when things inevitably go wrong and they try to claim user error.

•THIS!!! 💯💯💯 I learned this the hard way after they claimed I never certified for 3 weeks that I definitely did certify for.

Could be related to that identity verification thing they started doing randomly? My roommate had to upload his ID and birth certificate out of nowhere last month or his payments would stop. Check your DocuSign messages if you have any.

not trying to scare u but when this happened to me it was bc someone filed a fraudulent claim using my info. definitely keep trying to reach someone to confirm everything is ok with ur account

•Identity theft is a huge problem with unemployment right now. My cousin works at NYSDOL and says they're dealing with thousands of fraud cases.

you need to find out if your BYE date passed. That's your Benefit Year End date. If it passed, you gotta file a new claim even if you have money left. The system won't tell you this clearly.
