NY unemployment check delayed - anyone received theirs yet from last week?

Filed my weekly certification for NY unemployment last Sunday like usual, but still no money in my account? Normally hits by Wednesday latest. Anyone else having delays with their payment this week? Starting to get worried since I've got rent due Monday and was counting on this check. The payment status just says 'processed' but nothing's landed in my bank yet. Called the hotline twice but can't get through to a real person.

Glad it's not just me but also not glad, you know? Have you tried calling them? I keep hitting that automated system that just hangs up on me.

There's apparently a processing delay affecting payments that were certified last Sunday. According to the NYSDOL website (I just checked), they're aware of the issue and working to resolve it. They're saying payments should appear by end of day Monday. If you need immediate assistance, you should call the UI customer service line at 888-209-8124, but be prepared for long wait times.

Thanks for the info! I didn't see that on the website. I'm going to try calling again tomorrow if it doesn't come through. Just wish they would send an email or something to let people know instead of leaving us hanging.

I had the same issue last month and waited on hold for 3+ hours trying to reach someone. Finally used Claimyr.com and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed there was a flag on my account from a previous employer verification that was causing the delay. Agent fixed it right there and my payment came through next day. Check out their demo video if you want to see how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - saved me a ton of stress!

Never heard of that service before. Did it actually work? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point if my money doesn't show up tomorrow.

Yeah, it definitely worked for me. The regular phone line is impossible - I tried for days. With Claimyr I got through to an actual claims specialist who could see exactly what was happening with my account. Worth it when you're stuck in these situations.

This happens sometimes when there's a holiday or system maintenance scheduled. I work in HR and several of my former employees reported a similar delay this week. The good news is that from what I've heard, the payments are already in the system and should clear by tomorrow morning. If you don't receive it by noon tomorrow, definitely call the claims center.

but there wasnt a holiday this week?? why do they ALWAYS have "system maintenance" when people need their money the most. ugh so frustrating. ive been on UI for 3 months and this is the 2nd time this happened to me

did u check ur payment history on the website? sometimes the money is already sent but ur bank holds it. thats what happened to me once. go to ur payment history and see if it says released

Just checked and it says 'processed' but not 'released' yet. I think that means it's still on the DOL side? Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm having the same problem but my roommate got his payment like normal on Tuesday. We certified at the same time. Wonder why some people are affected and others aren't?

It might depend on your bank, your claim type, or even the order in which certifications were processed. The system handles thousands of claims, and sometimes batches get delayed while others process normally.

Just checked and mine came through too! What a relief. Still wish they'd communicate better about these delays though.

This happens literally EVERY THREE MONTHS like clockwork. I've been on NY unemployment since last May and I swear they do this on purpose to mess with people. One time my payment was delayed TWO WEEKS and I had to borrow money from my parents to pay rent. Then when I finally got through to someone they acted like it was no big deal and couldn't tell me why it happened. The whole system is designed to frustrate people into giving up on benefits they deserve!!!

While delays are frustrating, they're typically not intentional. The NYSDOL processes thousands of claims daily, and occasional system issues or verification delays can affect payment timing. If you experience a delay longer than 7 days, you should always contact them directly as it could indicate a specific issue with your claim that needs addressing.
