NY Unemployment payment missing from direct deposit today - should be there by now?
Just checked my bank account this morning and my unemployment payment that normally hits on Thursday isn't there. Been getting benefits since I was let go from my restaurant job in February, and payments have always been reliable like clockwork until now. I certified on Sunday like always, got the usual confirmation message, but nothing showed up today. My rent is due next week and I was counting on this money. Anyone else experiencing delays with their NY unemployment deposits this week? I tried calling the claims center but after 40 minutes on hold I got disconnected. Checked my online account and it shows the payment as 'processed' but nothing in my bank yet. Is this happening to anyone else right now or should I be worried?

Same thing happened to me! My payment usually hits my account by 10am on thursdays but nothing yet. I'm getting really anxious because I have bills automatically coming out tomorrow. The online portal says payment was released but my bank shows nothing.

â˘That's exactly what mine says too - says 'payment released' but nothing in my account. Let me know if yours comes through later today?

â˘I had this happen like 2 weeks ago. It showed up the next day. Apparently theres sometimes a 24hr delay with the ACH transfers. Check again tomorrow morning.

After months of having payment issues with ny unemployment, I finally found a service that helped me get through to an actual person at the department. I used claimyr.com and they connected me to a live agent who fixed my payment issue in one call. Most money I've ever spent to get what was rightfully mine, but it was worth it to finally get my benefits flowing again. Check out their youtube video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

â˘sounds too good to be true... does this actually work? đ¤

â˘Yeah it worked for me. I spent literally WEEKS trying to get thru on the phone myself. This service just kept calling for me and then connected me once they got someone. Talking to a real person fixed my issue in minutes.

â˘another day another scam trying to prey on desperate ppl... smh

â˘Not a scam at all. They don't ask for any personal info - they just connect the call. You talk directly to unemployment yourself. claimyr.com saved me so much time and frustration.

â˘wait so they just keep calling until they get through and then transfer the call to you? that's genius actually

â˘I've been seeing this claimyr thing mentioned in other threads too. Anyone else have experience with it? My payments have been stuck for like 3 weeks

Sunny Wang
â˘Exactly. They basically handle the hold time for you so you don't waste hours with your phone to your ear. When they get someone, they transfer the call to you.

I'm noticing a lot of payment delays this week too. My cousin works for a bank and said sometimes there are processing delays at the end of fiscal quarters. You'll probably see it tomorrow, I wouldn't worry too much yet.

â˘Thanks for the info - that makes sense since it's end of quarter. I hope you're right!

YO THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WITH NY UNEMPLOYMENT!! The system is completely broken. Last month they skipped my payment for a whole week with ZERO explanation and then it randomly showed up 9 days later. No apology, no nothing. And they wonder why people are always calling them đ¤Ąđ¤Ąđ¤Ą

Mine is also delayed but I've been through this before. The payment will probably show up tomorrow. The system sometimes has delays especially around holidays or end of month. The money is still coming so don't stress too much yet.

â˘Are there any holidays this week that would cause a delay? I didn't think so but maybe I'm forgetting something?

â˘Not official holidays but sometimes end of month processing or quarter-end accounting stuff causes delays in banking systems. Not just unemployment but lots of financial transfers.

This is exactly why i dont rely on direct deposit. I get the debit card option and then immediately transfer the funds to my account when they hit the card. That way I can atleast SEE when the money is loaded even if i cant transfer it instantly. More control that way imo

â˘Might switch to that method if this keeps happening. Didn't know that was even an option. How do you change it?

Caden Turner
â˘You can change payment method in your account settings on the ny unemployment website. Just go to Payment Options and select debit card instead of direct deposit. Takes about 7-10 days to get the card in the mail.

Here are some things I've learned from dealing with NY unemployment payment issues for the past year: 1) Bank delays are common, especially near end of month/quarter 2) If your payment status says "released" or "processed" in the system, 99% of time it will arrive within 48 hours 3) Technical glitches happen more often than they admit publicly 4) If you need to talk to someone, regular phone lines are useless The absolute BEST solution I found was using claimyr.com to get through to an agent. They keep calling while you go about your day, and when they get someone, they connect you. Total game changer when you have a serious issue that needs human help. If your payment is just delayed by a day, it'll probably resolve itself. But if you're missing multiple payments or have a more serious issue, getting through to a human is the only real solution. The online messaging system is basically a black hole where claims go to die.

â˘This is really helpful, thanks! How long did it take them to get through to someone for you?

â˘It was about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it varies depending on call volume. Way better than trying to call yourself though since you don't have to actually sit and listen to the hold music the whole time.

â˘Can confirm this works ^^ I was missing 3 payments and the online system kept saying I needed to call. Finally used claimyr and got connected to someone who fixed it all in one call.

my friend works at unemployment (not in NY tho) and she said sometimes the bank processing can delay payments by 24-48 hours. nothing to panic about yet. if you don't have it by monday, then start worrying and calling.

Nobody's payment is MisSiNg. This happens like every few months where theres a delay. Your money will be there tomorrow. The system just uses ancient technology and sometimes it gets backed up. Chill out ppl.

â˘Easy to say "chill out" when you don't have bills due. Some of us need that money on time every week.

â˘Ok but freaking out on reddit doesnt make the money arrive faster đ¤ˇââď¸

â˘actually sharing info here IS useful because now we know its happening to multiple people and not just an individual account issue.

Call them!!!!! Dont wait if you need the $. I had to nag them for WEEKS to get a missing payment once. The system is completely broken. Their web portal will tell you evrything's fine when it's not. YOU HAVE TO CALL!

Check ur spam folder for emails from unemployment. Sometimes they send notices about payment delays there. I just had a payment delayed because they wanted additional verification of my identity, but the email went straight to spam and I almost missed it.

â˘Good idea - just checked and don't see anything from them. Weird.

Try checking your payment history on the website. Sometimes the payment status will update there before your bank shows the deposit. Mine says 'pending' on the site but should be processed by tomorrow.

I had the exact same problem. For three weeks my payments just randomly stopped coming. The site showed everything was fine but no money in my account. Spent HOURS on hold and never got through. Finally used claimyr.com and got connected to an agent who found the problem - there was a flag on my account that needed to be removed. Once I talked to a human it got fixed in like 10 minutes. The website is useless for actual problems.

â˘how much do they charge for this service? worth it?

DeShawn Washington
â˘I don't remember exactly but it was worth every penny since I was missing over $1200 in payments that were stuck. Talking to a real person was the only way to fix it.

This is happening to everyone statewide. Check the DoL twitter - they posted about a "processing delay" but of course gave no details. Should be fixed by tomorrow according to their post.
