Anyone else suddenly not getting their ny unemployment deposit this week?

So I've been collecting unemployment since February after getting let go from my marketing job. Everything was going smooth until yesterday when I checked my account and noticed I didn't get my usual Thursday deposit. Normally it hits my account by 6pm at the latest, but nothing showed up. I double-checked my payment history on the ny unemployment website and it shows my claim was processed but with a "pending payment" status. I've never seen this before. I tried calling the claims center but got stuck in the automated system for over an hour before giving up. Has anyone else experienced delays with their benefits this week? I've got rent coming up next week and I'm starting to freak out a bit. Any idea what could be causing this or how long these "pending" payments usually take to clear?

OMG same thing happening to me right now!! My payment has been stuck on pending since Tuesday. Usually hits my account Wednesday morning without fail. I've been collecting since December and this is the first time it's happened. Really stressful since I have bills about to come out automatically 😫

Have you tried calling them? I've been trying for 2 days straight but can't get through to a real person

Tried calling 5 times today and keep getting stuck in that stupid automated system. Press 1 for this, press 3 for that, then it just hangs up on me at the end saying "high call volume" 🤬

happened to me a few months ago! took almost 2 weeks to clear. they claimed it was a "verification issue" whatever tf that means

I struggled with the same issue last month! Got super frustrated with not being able to reach anyone. Finally I tried this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they actually got me through to a live agent who fixed my payment issue in minutes. It was the best money I've ever spent to finally get my benefits paid quickly. They have this system where they wait on hold for you and then call your phone when there's a real person on the line. Here's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

that sounds kinda sus... how does this work exactly? they just call for you?

Yeah it's actually really simple. You just tell them which department you need to reach, they start calling and stay on hold (even for hours), and then when a real person answers, they call your phone and connect you. Saved me from wasting an entire day on hold.

sounds like one of those ads that pops up everywhere. anyone ACTUALLY try this service besides just this one person? 🧐

I've used it twice. Works exactly like they say. Beats spending 4 hours listening to that awful hold music and getting disconnected.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? I've wasted so much time trying to get through...

It 100% works. I was skeptical too but talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast I couldn't believe it. My payment hit my account next day after being stuck for over a week.

Another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol

I get the skepticism, I really do. The unemployment system is a nightmare. But in this case, they're just providing a service to get through the phone lines - not claiming to fix the whole system. It worked for me when nothing else did. 🤷‍♀️

This happened to me 3 weeks ago and I almost lost my mind. Turned out they were doing some kind of "identity verification sweep" because of fraud. Had to upload my drivers license and SSN card AGAIN even though they already had it on file. Check your email and messages on the unemployment portal - they might have sent you something.

Thanks for the tip! Just checked and don't see any messages asking for docs. Weird thing is my certification went through fine, it's just the payment part that's stuck

That's exactly what happened to me tho! My certification was accepted but then payment got stuck. The notice came 2 days AFTER it was already pending. The NY unemployment system is so messed up that way - they don't tell you there's a problem until after it happens 🙄

There was a news article yesterday about fraud detection causing delays in several states. I think New York was among them. Let me see if I can find the link...

I'm dealing with a similar situation but mines been pending for 3 weeks now!!! My rent is already late and im about to get evicted. The whole system is complete garbage. I cant even get a human on the phone no matter what time I call.

Have you tried claimyr.com? I was in the same exact situation last month and they got me through to an agent who fixed my claim in literally 10 minutes. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent.

Something similar happened to me a couple months back. What worked for me was sending a message through the contact form on the portal SPECIFICALLY asking about the payment status. Be super specific with dates and amounts in your message. I also included my phone number and asked them to call me. Got a call back within 48 hours and they fixed it on the spot.

Thanks, I'll try this approach! Did you have to do anything special to get them to respond to your message?

I put "URGENT: MISSING PAYMENT" in the subject line and mentioned I had bills that were about to bounce. Don't know if that helped or I just got lucky with a good agent. Worth a shot tho.

THE ENTIRE NY UNEMPLOYMENT SYSTEM IS A COMPLETE JOKE RIGHT NOW!!! My husband and I BOTH have had our payments delayed for different reasons in the past month. They're clearly doing some kind of system update or fraud check and not telling anyone about it. Absolutely unacceptable. People rely on this money to SURVIVE.

preach! 🙌 they act like we can just wait around for weeks while they figure out their "system issues" like we don't have bills to pay

100% THIS. I've been on unemployment three times in my life and it's NEVER been this dysfunctional. They need to hire more people or fix their broken systems.

Here's what you need to do (I work for a legal aid organization and help people with unemployment issues). This is probably due to the new fraud prevention measures implemented last month: First, check your spam folder for any emails from unemployment - they often send verification requests that go to spam. Second, try logging in from a desktop computer, not your phone app. Sometimes there are messages that only show up on the full website. Third, you need to speak with a claims specialist, not just a regular agent. Regular agents can't usually resolve pending payment issues. The best way to reach one is to call right when they open at 8:00 AM. If that doesn't work, I've had clients have great success using claimyr.com to get through the phone lines. Fourth, while you're waiting, gather your identity documents (ID, social security card, birth certificate, etc.) and recent pay stubs. Have them ready to upload if requested. Finally, document everything - dates you called, who you spoke with, what they said. If this drags on, you may need this documentation. Don't panic - 'pending' usually means there's a simple verification issue they need to clear. It rarely means you're being denied benefits entirely.

Thanks so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling right at 8am tomorrow. Do you know if there's any specific department I should ask for when I finally get through?

Ask for the "payment processing department" or a "claims specialist." Don't settle for talking to a general representative - they'll just tell you they can't help and transfer you back into the queue. Be polite but firm that you need someone who can resolve payment issues.

This is solid advice! Would also recommend checking if your bank info is still correct in the system. Sometimes pending payments happen when there's any tiny change to your account info.

Check if you need to fill out any questionares. happened to me while back. my payment was pending and i logged into the system to find a new questionaire they needed me to fill out. once i finished that my payment processed the next day

anyone else notice these delays always happen around holidays or the end of fiscal quarters? I swear they hold payments back sometimes to make their budgets look better 🤔

omg I thought I was the only one who noticed this!! happens ALL THE TIME in december too

that's just conspiracy theory stuff. systems get overloaded at end of months when more people are certifying, that's all

Quick suggestion - try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, and logging back in. Sometimes the portal shows outdated information. I had a "pending" status once that was actually already paid but the system wasn't showing the update.

Just tried this and unfortunately still showing as pending. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Have you checked if they've changed the deposit date? I remember last year they shifted the payment schedule by a day and didn't really announce it properly. Just a thought.

Did you receive a call supposedly from ny unemployment asking for information before this happened? There's been a huge scam going around where they freeze your benefits and then call pretending to be unemployment to "verify" your info. Just making sure you didnt give info to scammers

0 coins

-

Morgan Washington

No calls like that thankfully. I'm pretty careful about not giving out info over the phone.

Good to hear. My cousin got scammed this way and it was a nightmare to fix. Just wanted to make sure!

This is why I always keep a full month of expenses saved even while on unemployment. The system is so unreliable you can never count on the money arriving on time.

wow must be nice to have savings! some of us are living paycheck to paycheck and don't have that luxury!

Not trying to be insensitive. I've just been burned too many times by the system so I make huge sacrifices to keep that emergency buffer. Eat ramen for weeks if I have to.

Keep trying to call early in the morning around 7:55am. That's when I finally got through after a week of trying. Turns out my payment was held because I answered one of the certification questions wrong (said I was out of town for a day which triggered a review). Agent fixed it in 2 minutes and payment came through next day.
