Certified for ny unemployment on Sunday but no payment and nobody answering phones
I completed my weekly certification for unemployment on Sunday evening like I always do. It's now Thursday and there's still no update on my payment status when I check the website. Nothing has changed from previous weeks - I answered all questions the same way. Usually money hits my account by Tuesday at the latest. I've been calling the help line for two days straight but can never get through to anyone. Just endless hold music then disconnection. Anybody else experiencing payment delays this week? I've got rent due next week and I'm starting to stress out.

Yep same here! Certified Sunday night and still nothing. Website shows no payment history for this week. Usually hits my account Tuesday morning. I'm freaking out a bit cuz bills are due.

•Its probably system wide, they always have issues at the end of the month. Check again tomorrow, might update overnight

•Good to know I'm not the only one, tho it sucks for all of us. How long have you been on UI?

•Since February. This is the first time I've had a payment delay tho. Really bad timing with rent coming up 😩

After weeks of trying to reach ny unemployment with no luck, I finally found a solution that worked. Used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that somehow got me connected to an actual human at unemployment! They kept calling and then when they got through, transferred the call to me. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast after weeks of nothing. Check out their explainer: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•sounds like another scam to me... does it actually work? 🧐

•Not a scam at all. I was desperate after 3 weeks of no payments and trying to call 40+ times a day. The service just keeps calling until they get through, then connects you. Saved me hours of frustration.

•It worked for me! Got connected to an agent within an hour who fixed my account issues immediately. My payment was processed the next day. Best decision I made after weeks of stress.

•hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

•I was skeptical too but they don't ask for any unemployment info, they just do the calling for you. They got me through when I couldn't after days of trying. Worth every penny considering how much backpay I was owed.

This happened to me last month. Try logging out completely, clear browser cache, and log back in. Sometimes the payment status doesnt update but the money still gets deposited. Check your bank account directly.

The entire NY unemployment system is a complete joke 🤡 I had to wait 6 WEEKS for them to fix an issue with my claim last year. The only thing that worked was contacting my state assembly person's office. They have special contacts at unemployment and can escalate your case. Call them tomorrow!

•Thanks for the tip. Did you just call your local assembly person's office? How long did it take them to help?

•Yep just google your district and call the office. Explain the situation and they'll have you fill out a form. Took about 5 days for them to resolve it after I contacted them. WAY faster than waiting on unemployment.

•I second this! My assemblyman's office was super helpful when I had issues. They have a direct line to unemployment that we dont have access to.

The most comprehensive solution I can offer based on experience with NY unemployment delays: First, don't panic - system delays do happen periodically, especially around the last week of the month when their systems get overloaded. If it's been more than 3 business days since certification: 1) Check your payment history AND your bank account directly. Sometimes the system doesn't update but the payment processes. 2) Try calling right when they open (8:00am) or in the last hour before close (around 6:30pm). These times typically have shorter queues. 3) If you can't get through on phones, use claimyr.com - it's a service that keeps calling for you and connects you when a rep answers. It worked amazingly well for me after days of failed calling. 4) If that doesn't work, contact your state assembly representative's office. They have special escalation channels with unemployment. 5) Make sure your direct deposit information is correct in the system. Sometimes a payment gets rejected if there's any bank account issue. 6) Check if there are any outstanding action items or messages in your online portal that might be delaying payment. Hope this helps! The system is frustrating but there are ways to navigate it.

•This is super helpful, thank you! I'll try calling early tomorrow morning first and then look into the Claimyr option if that doesn't work.

•Can confirm the Claimyr tip works. After 2 weeks of trying to get through I used them and finally got my issue fixed.

FWIW there was an announcement about system maintenance on the website earlier this week. Might be related to the delay. Mine was also late but showed up this morning.

•Really? I didn't see any announcement. Where was it posted?

•It was a small yellow banner at the top of the login page. Easy to miss. Said something about overnight system updates on Tuesday.

try tweeting at them. sounds crazy but it worked for me when i couldnt get thru on the phones. their social media team sometimes responds faster than the call center

Did anything change in your work situation? Even picking up a single shift somewhere or reporting some income can trigger a review that delays payment. Happened to me when I did a one-day gig job.

•Nope, nothing has changed. Still fully unemployed unfortunately 😕

check ur spam folder for emails from them. sometimes they send notices that ur missing documentation or need to verify something and those emails go straight to spam

I had the EXACT same issue last week! Turns out there was a fraud alert on my account because someone tried to access it from another state. Had to verify my identity again. The only way I found out was by finally getting through to a rep using claimyr.com - worth checking if something similar happened to you.

•Nah this one actually works. I was skeptical too but after 3 weeks of trying to call myself, they got me through in like an hour. Just helps you skip the phone queue basically.

•I can vouch for it too. Used it twice when my claim had issues. They just dial for you and call you when they get a human.

Sometimes when I've had delays it's because they're doing additional verification. If you've worked for multiple employers in the past 18 months that can trigger it. But seriously you need to keep calling or try that claimyr service someone mentioned. Sitting and waiting won't fix it, trust me 😫

hot tip: call the 800 number, then as soon as it starts the recording press 9 then 2 then 1. it sometimes gets you to a different queue with shorter wait times
