If you're trying to call the unemployment office and can't get through (which is basically guaranteed), try using claimyr.com - it's this service that calls for you and connects you when a human answers. Without it I would never have gotten my identity theft issue fixed. The NY unemployment phone system is designed to make you give up. When I finally got through, they told me they're seeing TONS of these cases.
gonna try this, been trying to reach someone for 2 weeks about the same issue
i work at a tax prep office and we're seeing SOOO many cases like this right now. like 5-10 clients per week getting 1099-Gs for unemployment they never received. Make sure you dispute this before tax time or you'll be stuck sorting it out with the IRS too which is even more of a nightmare 💀
Sometimes when I've had delays it's because they're doing additional verification. If you've worked for multiple employers in the past 18 months that can trigger it. But seriously you need to keep calling or try that claimyr service someone mentioned. Sitting and waiting won't fix it, trust me 😫
hot tip: call the 800 number, then as soon as it starts the recording press 9 then 2 then 1. it sometimes gets you to a different queue with shorter wait times
THIS DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!! They closed that loophole months ago 😡
oh damn didn't know, it worked for me back in march. thanks for the update
omg the NY unemployment system is like trying to get concert tickets for beyonce but EVERYDAY FOR MONTHS 😠and instead of a concert its just your basic needs being met lmaoooo i hate it here
except Ticketmaster actually works sometimes 🤡
Heads up - they just added a new verification tool last month that might help. If you go to the website and click on "ID Verification Issues" there's a new form you can submit that's supposed to alert a specialist to your case. Worth a shot if you're still locked out!
Thanks for this! Can't find that option though - is it under a specific section?
It's kinda buried - go to Contact Us → Claims Assistance → ID Verification Problems. But honestly, even after filling it out, you'll prob still need to talk to someone. I used claimyr.com to finally get through on the phone after submitting that form 3 times with no response.
EXACTLY the same thing happened to me - I even added up all the withheld amounts from my supplement payments and it came to like $600+ that isn't showing on my 1099. I managed to get through to someone (took forever) who explained that these withholdings are handled differently and we should just use the 1099 as is.
You guys are WAY overthinking this. Just use whats on the 1099-G. The IRS and unemployment talk to each other. If there's a problem they'll let you know. I had the same concern last year and everything went through fine.
IRS and unemployment talk to each" other lmao'that s the funniest thing'I ve heard all day. Have you SEEN how these agencies operate?😂
lol fair point. But in this case they do share the data properly. It's one of the few things that actually works right.

Did you try doing the video verification option? That worked for me when all the document uploads failed. You basically do a zoom call and show your ID to a person

•I didn't see any option for that. Where is it on the site?

•It should be on the same screen as document upload, there's a small link that says something like "verify by video" at the bottom. If you don't see it maybe they don't offer it for everyone

When all else fails, try claimyr.com - got me through to an actual person after weeks of failed calls. Best $$ I ever spent when I was about to lose my apartment.
