Can't verify ID for ny unemployment - system keeps rejecting my documents

Omg I thought it was just me! Been stuck in this same ID verification hell for like a month. My license expired during covid (ya I know, I shoulda renewed) but i heard they have to accept it anyways bc of the extension? But system still rejects it every time. So frustrating!

You need to make sure the name on ALL your documents matches EXACTLY. I had this same problem because my license has my middle initial but my birth certificate has my full middle name. Had to get my passport that matched my SSN card exactly befor it went through.

The whole verification system is a joke. I ended up having to go to an actual unemployment office in person after 6 weeks of this nonsense. Bring ALL your docs with you - license, passport, birth certificate, social security card, bills with your address. They fixed mine on the spot.

THIS IS HOW I FIXED IT 👇 After dealing with this exact issue for weeks, I finally figured out what was causing problems with the ID verification system. The NY unemployment system is SUPER picky about image quality and formats. Here's what worked for me: 1. Make sure ALL your documents are scanned (not photographs) 2. Use PDF format ONLY - not JPG or PNG 3. Keep file size between 1-2MB (bigger files get rejected, too small are unreadable) 4. Make sure the scan is PERFECTLY straight and ALL four corners are visible 5. The name/info must be 100% legible - no glare or shadows 6. Include ALL required info in one document (front/back of license in same PDF) If that still doesn't work, your best bet is getting through to an agent. have you checked if someone else is using your info? my cousin had this problem and it turned out someone had filed using his SSN already. had to file a fraud claim and everything. took MONTHS to resolve. 😩

I know this sounds dumb but try using a completely different device. My laptop kept getting rejected but when I used my girlfriends macbook it worked first try. I think some browsers/devices just dont play nice with their system

After 3 weeks of this BS, I reached out to my state assembly person. They have special liaisons to unemployment and got it fixed in 2 days. Don't waste time with the regular channels - go straight to your elected officials.

the whole ny unemployment system is designed to be difficult on purpose so people give up and dont collect benefits. change my mind.

I kept getting rejected on my iphone then switched to desktop and it worked. Make sure youre using chrome not safari

anybody know if we get backpay from when we first applied? ive been stuck in verification for 5 weeks now and im worried ill only get $ from when they approve

The ID verification is run by a third party company called [redacted] and they are HORRIBLE. I had the same problem until I realized you need to make sure the address on your ID matches the address you entered on your application EXACTLY. Even abbreviations like St vs Street can cause rejection.

y'all here struggling with the system while meanwhile the unemployment office sent me THREE different debit cards for claims I never filed 🤣 The system is a joke

Did you try doing the video verification option? That worked for me when all the document uploads failed. You basically do a zoom call and show your ID to a person
