NY unemployment payments delayed this week - anyone else not getting paid?
Is anyone else not receiving their NY unemployment payments this week? I certified on Sunday like always but nothing has shown up in my account. My payment history shows nothing pending, and my claim still says it's valid. I've tried calling NYSDOL like 8 times today but keep getting the 'high call volume' message and offer for a callback. Has anyone gotten through? Are payments delayed for everyone or just me? This is really stressing me out since rent is due next week.

Same here! I certified on Sunday and usually get paid by Tuesday, but nothing yet. The website shows my claim is still active and everything looks normal except... no money! I tried calling this morning and this afternoon, same callback message both times. Left my number but no callback yet after 6 hours.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. Did you get an email or anything explaining the delay? I've been checking my spam folder like crazy.

Do you know how long these system issues usually last? I really can't afford to wait weeks for this to get fixed.

This is happening to quite a few people this week. I work with unemployment cases, and there appears to be a processing delay affecting beneficiaries who certified on Sunday. The NYSDOL hasn't issued an official statement yet, but based on similar situations in the past, payments should resume within 3-5 business days without requiring any action on your part. If you don't receive payment by next Monday, then I would recommend trying to speak with an agent directly. The system will likely be updated before any callbacks are processed.

Thank you for this info! It's really helpful to know what's going on. Do you think there's any way to check if they've fixed it, or will the money just randomly appear?

You're welcome! Unfortunately, there's no real-time status checker for this kind of system issue. The first sign of resolution will likely be when payments start appearing in accounts. You can keep checking your payment history page for updates, but the money will typically just appear without prior notification. If you have direct deposit, I'd recommend checking your bank account directly rather than relying solely on the NYSDOL portal for payment confirmation.

I HAVENT BEEN PAID EITHER!!!! This is the THIRD TIME this year that they've had "system issues" that just happen to delay our money. But bet they never delay collecting taxes!!!! I've been on unemployment since January and EVERY SINGLE MONTH there's some new problem. I'm sick of it!!!!

Same boat, starting to think these "glitches" are intentional tbh

While I understand the frustration, these processing delays are usually related to genuine system updates or maintenance. The NYSDOL typically processes millions of payments weekly with relatively few issues. These periodic delays, while inconvenient, aren't targeted or intentional. The system is designed to eventually backpay all delayed amounts.

After dealing with these kinds of delays multiple times, I finally found a way to actually speak with someone at NYSDOL when these issues happen. I used a service called Claimyr that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of waiting days for a callback. The agent confirmed there's a processing delay affecting people who certified on Sunday, but assured me that payments will be released by Friday. They said it's due to a system update they're implementing. If you need to speak with someone directly, check out their demo video: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE or go to claimyr.com. Seriously saved me days of stress and uncertainty.

Thanks for the tip! I might try this if the payment doesn't show up by Friday. Did they give you any specific information about when exactly the payments would be processed?

The agent I spoke with said they're processing payments in batches and everyone should be caught up by Friday afternoon. She said there's nothing wrong with individual claims - it's affecting everyone who certified on Sunday. Using Claimyr was at least reassuring because I got an official confirmation rather than just guessing what might be happening.

This could be due to different batch processing times or different certification submission times. Even a few minutes difference in certification time can place claims in different processing batches.

I just wanted to update everyone - I just checked my account and the payment FINALLY showed up! It's dated today even though I certified on Sunday. Hopefully everyone else starts seeing their payments come through too.

That's great news! I just checked mine and still nothing, but this gives me hope they're working through the backlog. Thanks for updating us!

FINALLY got mine too. No explanation, no apology, nothing. Just suddenly appeared. This system is a JOKE.

Same here, payment arrived this morning. Glad this was resolved relatively quickly, though some communication from NYSDOL would have been nice rather than leaving us all in the dark.
