NY unemployment payment not showing as paid after certification - need DOL phone number ASAP

Has anyone else certified for NY unemployment this week but didn't get paid today? I certified on Sunday like normal, and my account shows that I successfully certified, but it's not showing as paid out and the money isn't in my account. It's Wednesday now and I always get my payments by Tuesday at the latest. I'm starting to panic because I have bills due tomorrow. I can't find the direct phone number to call NYSDOL anywhere in my emails or paperwork. Can someone please share the number to call? Anyone else experiencing delays this week?

the regular number is 1-888-209-8124 but good luck getting thru lol. their phone lines are always jammed up & half the time it just hangs up on u after waiting

This happened to me last month. The regular customer service number is 1-888-209-8124, but there are a few possible reasons your payment might be delayed: 1. If this is your first payment after filing a new claim, it can take up to 3 business days longer 2. Bank holidays can delay direct deposits (though there weren't any this week) 3. Sometimes the system flags accounts for random review 4. There could be a technical issue with the payment processing system Before panicking, check your payment history section to see if there's a pending transaction or any messages about holds. Sometimes it shows as certified but the payment is held for review.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! This isn't my first payment - I've been on unemployment since January. I checked the payment history and it shows my certification was received but no pending payment. There aren't any messages about holds either. I'm definitely going to call that number.

i literally just got my payment today even tho i certified sunday too!! the system is SO slow right now, idk why. last week it came tuesday but this week wednesday. maybe yours will come tomorrow? sometimes they batch process them weird

The NYSDOL phone system is completely overwhelmed right now. I was in the same situation last week and tried calling that 888 number for THREE DAYS straight without getting through. The automated system just kept disconnecting me after 2+ hours on hold each time. I finally was able to reach an agent by using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a system that basically connects you directly to an unemployment agent and puts you at the front of the phone queue. They removed it right away and my payment showed up the next day. Definitely worth looking into if you can't get through on your own.

Totally understand the skepticism. I felt the same way at first. But after wasting almost 9 hours trying to call on my own, I was desperate. The service worked exactly as advertised - I was talking to an actual DOL agent within about 20 minutes. The agent I got was super helpful and told me they're seeing huge call volumes right now.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying the regular number all morning and can't get through - just keeps disconnecting me. I'll check out that service if I can't get through by tomorrow. At this point I'd try anything to get this resolved.

THEY'RE PULLING THIS GARBAGE AGAIN!! This happens EVERY FEW MONTHS where they suddenly delay payments with ZERO COMMUNICATION! I've been on UI since October 2025 and they've done this THREE TIMES now. The official line is always some BS about "system maintenance" or "verification processes" but they NEVER WARN ANYONE!!! Keep calling that 888-209-8124 number but be prepared to try 20+ TIMES before getting through. They disconnect calls ON PURPOSE when the queue gets too full. Call EXACTLY when they open at 8:00am for best chance. Lastly - check if your benefit year expired! That would cause payment to stop and you'd need to reapply. Has it been exactly 52 weeks since you first applied???

Oh wow, that's so frustrating that this is a pattern! No, my benefit year hasn't expired - I've only been collecting since January 2025. I tried calling right at 8am this morning but got the dreaded "we're experiencing high call volumes" message and then it hung up on me. I'll keep trying though!

Keep trying!!! Their system is DESIGNED to discourage people from getting help. Try calling at weird times like 11:30am or 3:45pm when others might not be calling as much. Sometimes that works better than the morning rush!

Did you check if you have any outstanding questionnaires or forms to fill out? Sometimes they hold payment if there's something they need you to complete. Log into your account and check the messages section - there might be something waiting for your response. Also, double-check that you answered all certification questions correctly. One wrong answer can hold up payment.

I did check my messages and don't see anything pending. I'm pretty sure I answered all the certification questions correctly - I've been doing it the same way for months without issues. It's so stressful when the money just doesn't show up with no explanation!

u should also try the alternate number 1-833-586-7763 sometimes it gets u to a different call center. also if u have twitter try messaging @NYSLabor they sometimes respond there when ur desperate

Just wanted to follow up - did your payment come through yet? Sometimes there's a system-wide delay and payments that normally hit Tuesday come through on Thursday instead. If you still haven't received it by tomorrow morning, definitely keep trying to reach an agent.

The payment actually just posted to my account about an hour ago! What a relief. Seems like there was a system-wide delay this week since several others mentioned getting theirs late too. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!
