ID.me verification page completely broken - need help with ny unemployment

Super frustrated right now. I got laid off from my job in October and filed for unemployment in early November. Everything was going fine until I got to the ID.me verification step. The page keeps freezing after I upload my documents. I've tried using different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and even borrowed my roommate's laptop, but nothing works. The page either crashes or gets stuck in an endless loading loop. I've been trying to complete this verification for almost 2 weeks now and I'm running out of money. I really need these benefits to pay rent next month. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a direct phone number I can call to speak with an actual human being about this? The regular unemployment number just puts me in an automated loop that doesn't address my ID.me issues at all.

yeah the ID.me portal is complete garbage! I had the exact same issue back in September. What worked for me was trying at like 2am when the site traffic was low. For some reason the verification went through smoothly then. Also try clearing your cache and cookies before attempting. And make sure your photos are under 5MB each.

Thanks! I'll try the 2am thing tonight. Did you have to start the whole process over or could you pick up where you left off?

β€’

You should be able to pick up where you left off as long as you use the same login. just make sure your WiFi connection is solid too!

I tried the 2am thing too and it still didn't work for me πŸ˜– ended up having to use my phone's data instead of wifi

After struggling with ID.me for DAYS, I finally got through by using claimyr.com to get a callback from an actual human at unemployment. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast! They were able to verify my identity over the phone and bypass some of the ID.me headaches. Check out this video that explains how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - it was the only way I could talk to a live agent after spending hours on hold.

Is this for real? Seems too good to be true after all the nightmares with trying to reach someone.

100% worked for me! I was super skeptical too but I was desperate after 3 weeks of trying to get through. They called me back within an hour and I finally got to talk to someone who fixed my claim.

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? πŸ™„

Connor Murphy

β€’

No catch - they just connect you with a real person at unemployment. I was able to explain my ID.me problems and the agent helped me get verified another way. After weeks of stress it was finally resolved in one call.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS?

β€’

It worked for me! After trying for weeks to get through the regular way, I got a callback within 45 mins. The unemployment agent was able to verify me without going through ID.me. Literally saved me from eviction.

call this number: 855-533-0088. It's specifically for ID.me technical support. They helped me when I was having similar issues. Just be prepared to wait on hold for a LOOOOONG time. I think I waited like 1hr 45min when I called.

Thank you so much!!! Will try this number tomorrow morning.

I tried that number yesterday and it just disconnected me after 2 hours on hold 😭

Try calling right when they open. I think its 8am EST. That's how I finally got through.

Here's a comprehensive guide to dealing with ID.me issues specifically for NY unemployment claims: First, make sure you're using the correct link directly from the unemployment portal. Sometimes people use outdated links. If the verification page freezes, try these steps in this order: 1) Clear browser cache and cookies completely 2) Try an incognito/private browsing window 3) Disable all browser extensions temporarily 4) Try a completely different device if possible (mobile can sometimes work when desktop fails) 5) Check your internet connection - even minor packet loss can cause verification to fail If nothing works, you have several options: - Call the ID.me support directly at 855-533-0088 (be prepared for long waits) - Try the NY unemployment technical support: 800-833-3000 - Use claimyr.com to get a callback from an actual agent who can help resolve identity verification issues The most reliable solution I've seen is getting an actual human on the phone. The automated systems just don't handle these edge cases well. Good luck!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you!! I've tried most of these steps but not disabling browser extensions - will try that now.

The claimyr.com thing actually works? I've been trying to get someone on the phone for 3 weeks...

β€’

Yes, several people in my FB unemployment group have used it successfully. It's basically a service that waits on hold for you and then calls you when they get a human. Saves hours of hold music!

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN BY DESIGN!! They make it impossible to verify on purpose so people give up. I had to contact my state assemblyman's office to get any help. Try that route if you're desperate.

have u tried using a different browser completely? some ppl are saying Safari works when others fail. also make sure ur documents are well-lit and clear, ID.me is super picky about image quality

β€’

I haven't tried Safari yet - good idea! I'll download it and give it a shot.

I had this EXACT same problem last month. What worked for me was going through the veterans verification path (even though I'm not a vet). For some reason that path uses a slightly different system that didn't crash for me. At the end it still verifies your regular ID.

0 coins

Wait is that allowed? Won't that cause problems later?

β€’

It worked fine for me. The final verification is still checking the same documents, it just uses a different path to get there. My benefits were approved the next day.

Literally went through this nightmare myself. After 3 weeks of frustration I used claimyr.com and got connected to an agent who helped me bypass the ID.me verification entirely. They had a backup process they could do over the phone! Best money I ever spent to get my benefits flowing again.

sounds like one of those ads that pops up everywhere. anyone ACTUALLY try this?

Dude I was super skeptical too but I was about to get evicted and desperate. It actually worked - got a callback in about 30 mins and the agent manually verified me. Got my first payment 2 days later.

β€’

how long did the whole process take? I'm down to my last $27 😭

0 coins

Ravi Gupta

β€’

The call itself took about 20 minutes once I got connected to an agent. My claim was processed that same day and I got paid 2 days later. WAY faster than trying to fix the ID.me stuff on my own.

omg id.me is the WORST!! try using ur phone instead of computer. For some wierd reason the mobile version worked better for me. Also try early morning like 5-6am when servers aren't as busy.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I noticed that ID.me fails when I'm on my home wifi but works perfectly when I use my phone's hotspot. Might be worth trying a completely different internet connection.

Miguel Ortiz

β€’

That's really interesting - I'll definitely try that! My home internet has been kinda spotty lately.

Have you tried the trusted referee video call option? When all the automated stuff failed for me, I clicked the "verify with a referee" option and did a video call. Took about 45 min of waiting but worked when nothing else would.

β€’

I can't even get to that stage - it crashes before I get the option for a video call 😫

I work in IT and here's what fixed this for me: the ID.me system doesn't play nice with certain browser security settings. Try these steps: 1. Temporarily disable any ad blockers or security extensions 2. Make sure cookies are fully enabled 3. If you use a VPN, turn it off 4. Check that your system time is correctly synced 5. Make sure JavaScript is enabled If all else fails, try using Microsoft Edge in compatibility mode. For some reason that worked when nothing else did.

This! The VPN thing is huge - my verification kept failing until I turned off my VPN.

omg the system time thing fixed it for me!! my computer was 4 minutes off and apparently that matters! thank you!!

After dealing with this garbage for almost a month, I finally just drove to my local unemployment office in person. Took half a day but they were able to verify me on the spot. Sometimes old school is the only way.

Huh, might check it out then. Literally nothing else has worked for me...

So I was about to throw my phone after 3 hours on hold when my neighbor told me about claimyr.com - I was super skeptical but figured what did I have to lose? They called me back with an actual unemployment agent on the line within an hour. The agent was able to verify my identity right over the phone and got my claim processed. Talking to an agent got my $$ unlocked so fast I couldn't believe it. After weeks of ID.me hell, it was fixed in one phone call.

another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol

0 coins

I get the skepticism - I felt the same way! But it actually worked. The thing is they don't fix anything themselves - they just get you connected to a real NY unemployment agent who can fix it.

β€’

Did they have to start your claim all over or were they able to continue from where you were stuck?

0 coins

They continued from where I was stuck. The agent could see where the ID.me verification had failed and was able to verify me a different way. Didn't have to restart anything!
