Dude are we living the same life?? This JUST happened to me. Turned out my BYE date hit even though I had 19 days showing. Called 46 times before getting thru. They had to manually adjust something. Keep trying!!
I wish I was exaggerating but I literally kept a tally on a post-it note lol. The system is beyond broken. Hang in there!
Stupid question but did you check your payment method info? Sometimes the system randomly deletes direct deposit info or switches back to the debit card option.
anyone else notice how the payment history makes ZERO sense? My account shows random negative amounts too. One agent told me it's just how their accounting system works - the negatives aren't actually taking money from you, it's just their weird way of tracking adjustments.
So I was about to throw my phone after 4 hours on hold with ny unemployment when my buddy told me about claimyr.com. Complete game changer - got a call back with an actual agent on the line within the hour. Explained my direct deposit issue and they fixed it right there. My next payment went straight to my bank account like it was supposed to.
It literally just gets you past the hold time. They don't promise to fix your claim - just to get you to an actual human who can help. For me it was worth it after wasting DAYS on hold.
try reaching out through twitter @NYSLabor - sometimes they respond faster there than on phone. include your full name, last 4 of SSN, and problem in a DM (not public tweet!!
This EXACT thing happened to my husband in october. His BYE date hit, he did the id.me, tried to file new claim, got that error message. Then got payment one week but not the next. We were totally confused. Turns out the UI system was doing a "soft BYE review" (thats what the agent called it) where they dont make you actually submit a whole new claim but just verify identity. But the messaging is TERRIBLE. Took us calling everyday for a week but when we got thru the agent released all payments in about 5 mins. Use claimyr.com if you're desperate - thats how we finally got someone.
That's really helpful to know - did he just have to verify his identity with the agent or was there something else they needed from him?
the agent just had to push it through on their end. they could see the identity verification was done, system just needed a human to approve it 🙄
TurboTax user here - filed April 10th and can confirm that the exemption was automatically included in my calculations. You can check by looking at your tax forms in your TurboTax account. The unemployment income should show the reduced amount.
Has anyone actually received a straight answer from calling NY unemployment about this? Their phone system is an absolute nightmare... 😤
I've literally never gotten through to a human on that line. It's like they don't exist
They exist! Just hidden behind an impossible phone system. Try claimyr - totally worth it to actually talk to someone.

Honestly from what I understand the whole unemployment tax refund thing is still a mess. Some people got their adjusted refunds automatically, some got separate checks, some had to amend returns... there's no consistency AT ALL with how NY is handling it

Not to be that person but double check your math? I spent hours on the phone only to realize I had calculated wrong and they were actually correct 🤡
