look on the bright side - at least your case is CLOSED. mine has been "under review" for 4 months with no updates. consider yourself lucky! 😒
Reading these stories is making me so anxious. I just filed my first claim last week and now I'm terrified. This system seems absolutely nightmarish.
Unpopular opinion: sometimes it really is better to take any job and keep looking while employed. Being unemployed for too long creates a gap that makes it even harder to get hired later.
Try calling your state rep's office. I had a similar issue and couldn't get through to unemployment for weeks. Called my assembly member and their office had a contact at DOL who fixed my issue in 2 days. Worth a shot!
Did you make any changes to your claim recently? Like updated your address or anything? Sometimes even small changes can trigger payment holds while they verify the new info.

The ny unemployment system is GARBAGE for handling fraud 🤦♂️ My cousin waited 6 months for them to fix his fraud case! What finally worked was using claimyr.com to get thru to a supervisor (not just a regular agent) who could actually help. Regular agents just read from scripts and can't do anything useful for fraud cases.

•100% worth it when you consider the alternatives. I spent literally 20+ hours trying to get through on my own. Then used claimyr and had a resolution within days. Time is money ya know?

•I used it too after seeing it here and yeah, it works exactly as advertised. Got through to an actual human who helped me fix my claim issues.

Pro tip: If you're dealing with identity theft with unemployment, you also need to report it to the US Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General. They have a specific fraud hotline at 1-800-347-3756. This is actually more effective than just the state unemployment office for ID theft cases.
