Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

my neighbor werks for unemployment (not tax dept tho) and says they r extremely understaffed right now. like 5 people handling thousands of tax doc issues. its not an excuse but explains why noone answers. he suggested trying claimyr if ur desperate cuz its the only way to guarantee talking to someone.
I get the skepticism, but my neighbor literally told me they're using it internally when they need to reach other departments 😂 The system is THAT broken!

Just be careful - there's a huge backlog of tax form corrections happening right now. File for an extension if your deadline is coming up soon. I eventually got my corrected 1099-G but it took 6 WEEKS after I finally reached someone.

wait are u supposed to be certifying even if ur self employed?? i thought that ended with pua??

•If you qualify for regular unemployment (had enough W-2 income), you can still collect even if your most recent job was self-employment. That's different from the old pandemic programs.

call them ASAP. people here saying payments are coming through are lucky. my brother had a similar issue and his payment got held for "identity verification" for 3 weeks. don't risk it just call.

Dont forget that NY has the 599 program where you can keep your benefits while taking approved training courses. Might be worth looking into if he wants to learn a new skill while job hunting. You need to apply for it though.

•Here's the link: https://dol.ny.gov/599-program - but you need to talk to a rep to actually get approved for it. It's one of those hidden benefits they don't advertise much.
Your husband should check if he qualifies for the 13-week Extended Benefits program in NY. Not everyone is eligible but worth checking. You HAVE to call and talk to a rep to find out though, which is a nightmare unless you use a service like claimyr to get through.

just went through this last week! the trick is to use a desktop instead of phone, and make sure your camera is super good quality. also when taking pics of ID hold it against a WHITE background (not dark) and make sure theres good lighting. worked for me first try after doing all that.

I literally couldn't change my bank info for THREE MONTHS because of the ID.me nonsense. Finally got through on the phone after using claimyr.com (which btw was a lifesaver) and the agent told me there was a note on my account saying I'd already been verified! The whole time I was stressing and resubmitting docs they already had everything they needed 🤬 The system is beyond broken.

whatever you do DONT STOP CERTIFYING!!! Even if it looks like nothing is happening. I stopped for 2 weeks cuz I thought it wasn't working and lost those payments forever ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
