Will NY unemployment send refunds as paper checks or direct deposit?

About 10 business days from email to money in account. Not too bad considering how slow they usually are with everything else lol

Totally get the skepticism. NY unemployment phone lines are a nightmare. But this service actually did what it promised. The agent I talked to even told me they're seeing more people using these types of services because the phone lines are so backed up.

The difference is they don't claim to do anything except get you past the hold time. They literally just call repeatedly, wait on hold, then call you when a human answers. That's it. Simple but effective!

My friend said it was in a plain white envelope with just the NY state logo in the corner. Easy to miss if you're not looking for it!

Only taxable on your state return, not federal. And only the refunded portion. It's because the state considers it income in the year you receive it, not the year you earned it. Annoying but that's how it works.

It's for people who paid unemployment taxes in 2020-2022 and were eligible for certain exclusions. Not everyone gets one.
