KDOL account locked - Already have SSN associated account but can't log in. Verified ID at post office, no confirmation. What next?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment account. The system says I already have an account with my SSN, but I don't know the username or password. I'm locked out now and they told me to go to the post office to verify my identity. I did that, but I haven't gotten any confirmation. Should I call them back or wait? Anyone been through this?

Ugh, I've been there. The KDOL system is a nightmare. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call them ASAP. Don't wait for confirmation. 2. Have your post office receipt ready. 3. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours. 4. If you can't get through, keep trying every day. 5. Document everything - dates, times, who you spoke to. Good luck, you're gonna need it with these clowns 🤡

•This is solid advice. I'd add: take screenshots of any error messages you get on the website. It helped my case.

•Hours on hold? More like days 😭 I swear they have one person working the phones

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Basically, yeah. Their system navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person answers, it calls your phone. You just answer and start talking to the agent.

have you tried resetting your password through the website? sometimes that works even if you dont remember your username

This happened to me last year. Turns out someone had filed a fraudulent claim using my SSN. Make sure you mention this possibility when you finally get through to them!

•Oh no, I didn't even think of that! How long did it take to resolve?

•It took about 2 months 😩 But hopefully yours will be faster if you're proactive about it!

Have you tried reaching out to your state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with KDOL.

•Go to the DOL website, there's a form you can fill out. It might light a fire under KDOL's a**

Similar thing happened to me a few months ago. The post office verification can take up to 10 business days to process, so don't panic if you haven't heard back yet. But definitely call KDOL anyway - sometimes they can manually verify your identity over the phone if you have all your documents ready. Also, make sure you're checking your email (including spam folder) for any updates from ID.me since they handle the identity verification for Kansas. Good luck!

•Thank you for the detailed info! I didn't know about the 10 business day processing time - that actually makes me feel better since it's only been a few days. I'll definitely call them tomorrow and check my spam folder too. Really appreciate the tip about ID.me, I wasn't sure who was handling that part of the process.

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! Here's what worked for me: Don't wait for the ID.me confirmation - it can take forever. Call KDOL first thing in the morning (like others said, 7:30 AM sharp) and tell them you completed the post office verification. They can see it in their system even if you haven't gotten the email yet. Make sure to have your post office receipt number ready - that's the key piece they need to unlock your account. The whole process took me about 2 weeks total, but most of that was just waiting. Once I got through to an actual person, they fixed it in about 10 minutes. Hang in there!

•This is super helpful! I was starting to stress about not getting the ID.me email yet. Having the receipt number ready makes total sense - I'll make sure to have that handy when I call tomorrow morning. It's reassuring to hear it only took 10 minutes once you actually got through to someone. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm dealing with something similar right now! Been locked out for about a week and did the post office verification 4 days ago. Reading through these comments is both helpful and terrifying lol. Sounds like calling at 7:30 AM sharp is the move - gonna set my alarm and try that tomorrow. Really hoping I don't end up in the 3-month nightmare situation some of you have mentioned 😅. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, at least I know I'm not alone in this mess!

•You're definitely not alone! I'm actually in a similar boat - just did my post office verification a couple days ago and feeling anxious about the whole process. It's oddly comforting to see so many people sharing their experiences here, even if some of them are horror stories 😬. The 7:30 AM call strategy seems to be the consensus from everyone, so I think I'll try that too. Fingers crossed we both get through quickly and don't become another 3-month waiting story! Keep us posted on how your call goes tomorrow - I'd love to hear if it works out for you.

Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact same nightmare about 8 months ago. The good news is that you're on the right track with the post office verification - that's actually the fastest way to get your identity confirmed with ID.me. A couple things that helped me: 1) Keep trying to call even if you don't hear back about the verification yet, sometimes their systems are delayed but they can see your verification attempt on their end, 2) If you have any old pay stubs or tax documents from previous employers, have those ready when you call - they might ask for additional verification, and 3) Don't give up! I know it's frustrating but persistence really does pay off with KDOL. Took me about 2 weeks total but once I got through to the right person, they had me back in my account within 30 minutes. You've got this! 💪

•This is really encouraging to hear! I'm glad you mentioned having old pay stubs and tax documents ready - I wouldn't have thought of that but it makes total sense that they might ask for additional verification. It's reassuring to know that even though it took 2 weeks total, the actual resolution was pretty quick once you got the right person on the line. Definitely gives me hope that this will get sorted out soon. Thanks for the motivation! 💪

Just went through this exact same thing last month! The waiting is definitely the worst part, but don't lose hope. A few tips from my experience: 1) Call at exactly 7:30 AM when they open - I got through in about 15 minutes that way, 2) Have your post office receipt AND your social security card ready when you call, 3) If the first person can't help, politely ask to be transferred to the "identity verification department" specifically. That's what finally got me connected to someone who could actually fix the issue. The whole thing took about 10 days total but was resolved in one phone call once I reached the right department. Stay persistent and you'll get through this bureaucratic maze! 🙏

•This is exactly the kind of specific advice I was hoping to find! The tip about asking to be transferred to the "identity verification department" specifically is gold - I bet that's why some people get stuck in limbo while others get quick resolutions. I'm definitely going to try the 7:30 AM sharp strategy and have all my documents ready. It's so helpful to hear from someone who just went through this recently. Thanks for taking the time to share what worked for you! 🙏

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed for unemployment 2 weeks ago and got the dreaded "SSN already associated with existing account" message. Did my post office verification last Friday but still haven't heard anything back from ID.me. Reading through all these comments is both reassuring and terrifying - glad to know I'm not alone but wow, some of you have been waiting MONTHS 😰 Based on what everyone's saying, I'm definitely going to try calling at 7:30 AM sharp tomorrow with my post office receipt in hand. The tip about asking specifically for the "identity verification department" seems like it could be a game changer. Question for those who've been through this - did you have to provide any additional documents during the phone call, or was the post office receipt usually enough? Want to make sure I have everything ready to go! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. This community is a lifesaver when dealing with KDOL's nightmare system! 🤞
