DETR account locked out - can't reset password or reach anyone for weeks. Help!
I'm trying to start an unemployment claim but I'm having trouble with the online system. It says I already have an account, but I don't have the correct login information. When I try to reset it, I keep getting errors. I've tried contacting them for weeks now but can't get through. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The unemployment system is a total nightmare rn. I had the same issue with my account and it took forever to get it sorted. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works.

•Yeah, I've tried calling at different times but no luck. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call 2 minutes before they open. Sometimes you can get in the queue early.

•Good idea! I'll have to try that next time. This whole system is such a mess 🤦♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/joPqgg0bRFw

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make this easier for free.

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's clearly not designed to actually help people when they need it most. 😤

•Preach! 🙌 The whole thing is a joke. We deserve better.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your identification documents (SSN, driver's license, etc.) 2. Write down a clear explanation of your issue 3. Try calling at off-peak hours (like right before lunch or near closing time) 4. If you can't get through, email them with 'URGENT' in the subject line 5. As a last resort, contact your local labor board or ombudsman Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process, but persistence pays off!

•Great tips! I'd add: keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. It can help if you need to escalate the issue later.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that can help with login issues on government sites.

•I haven't tried that actually. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

PSA: If you're having trouble with online verification, check if your address matches EXACTLY what's on file with the DMV. Even a slight difference can cause issues.

I had a similar issue and what finally worked was going to a Nevada JobConnect office in person. They have staff who can help reset your account on the spot. I know it's not ideal having to go in person, but after weeks of trying online and phone, it was the only thing that worked for me. You can find locations at nevadajobconnect.com. Bring your ID, social security card, and any employment documents you have. Good luck! 🤞

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get through online and on the phone. Going in person sounds like it might actually get results. Thanks for sharing the website link too - I'll look up the closest location to me. Did you have to wait long when you went in, or were they able to help you right away?

•Oh wow, I had no idea the JobConnect offices could help with account resets! I've been struggling with the same locked account issue for over a month. @Connor O'Brien did they ask for any specific documentation beyond what you mentioned? And roughly how long did the whole process take once you got there? This gives me hope that there's actually a solution!

•This is exactly the kind of practical advice I needed! I've been stuck in the same boat for weeks now. @Connor O'Brien - when you went to the JobConnect office, did they require an appointment or could you just walk in? Also, did they handle the password reset on the spot or did it take a few days to process? I'm definitely going to try this approach since nothing else has worked. Thanks for sharing what actually worked for you!

•@Connor O'Brien This is such helpful advice! I'm definitely going to try the in-person route since I've been stuck in the same endless loop for weeks now. Quick question - do you know if all the JobConnect locations can handle account resets, or are there specific ones that are better equipped for DETR issues? I want to make sure I go to the right place and don't waste a trip. Really appreciate you sharing what actually worked!

I went through the exact same nightmare last year! What finally worked for me was a combination of a few things: 1) I called exactly at 8:00 AM when they opened and kept redialing until I got through (took about 45 minutes of constant calling), 2) I had all my documents ready including old pay stubs and tax returns to verify my identity, and 3) I explained that I was locked out and couldn't even do the password reset. The rep was able to unlock my account while I was on the phone. Also try using different browsers - sometimes the DETR site works better in Edge or Firefox than Chrome. Don't give up, it's incredibly frustrating but you'll eventually get through to someone who can help!

•This is super helpful! I'm definitely going to try the 8 AM calling strategy - 45 minutes of redialing sounds painful but if it works, it's worth it. I hadn't thought about trying different browsers either, that's a great tip. Did you have any specific documents that they asked for to verify your identity over the phone, or was it pretty standard stuff? I want to make sure I have everything ready before I start that marathon calling session. Thanks for sharing what actually worked for you - it gives me hope that there's light at the end of this tunnel!

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! Been locked out of my DETR account for about 2 weeks and the password reset just gives me error messages every time. I've tried calling during different hours but can never get through - it either goes straight to busy signal or hangs up after being on hold forever. Reading through all these comments, it sounds like going to a JobConnect office in person might be my best bet. Has anyone had success with the email approach that @Samuel Robinson mentioned? I'm willing to try anything at this point because I really need to get my claim started. This whole system seems designed to keep people from actually getting help when they need it most.

•I feel your frustration! I'm in a similar boat - been locked out for about 10 days now. From what I'm reading here, it seems like the in-person JobConnect office route has the highest success rate. I haven't tried the email approach yet either, but I'm planning to do both - send an urgent email AND visit a JobConnect office this week. @Samuel Robinson do you happen to know what email address works best for DETR issues? Also @Connor O'Brien's advice about bringing all your documents seems solid. We shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops just to access our own accounts, but here we are! Let me know if the JobConnect office works for you - I'll probably try the same approach.

I just went through this exact situation last month! Here's what finally worked for me: I called the DETR number (702-486-0350) at exactly 7:58 AM and kept hitting redial. It took about 30 tries but I finally got in the queue. When I got through, the rep was able to see that my account had been automatically locked due to "suspicious activity" (which was just me trying to reset my password too many times). She unlocked it immediately and helped me set up a new password over the phone. Pro tip: Have your SSN, driver's license number, and last employer info ready. Also, if the phone route doesn't work, definitely try the JobConnect office like others mentioned - my friend had success there too. The key is persistence and having all your docs ready. Don't give up, you'll get through eventually!
