NYDOL system won't accept SSN, no email responses, no mail - completely locked out. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having a really frustrating issue with the unemployment system. I've been trying to get in touch with them for weeks now. I've sent multiple emails but haven't received any responses. I'm not even getting any mail at home about my claim. The worst part is, when I try to call, the automated system won't accept my social security number. It's like I'm completely locked out. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is such a mess right now. I was in a similar situation last month. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works better.

Yeah, I've tried that a few times. No luck so far. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: Try calling at 7:55 AM. Sometimes the system opens up a few minutes early and you can get through before the rush.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free šŸ™„

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me weeks of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

It took about 2 hours total, but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck on hold yourself!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through when the regular channels aren't working.

I've been dealing with this for MONTHS. Here's what I've learned: • Keep a log of every attempt to contact them (dates, times, methods) • Try different phones if possible - sometimes it's a tech issue • Double and triple check that you're entering your SSN correctly • If you can, go to an in-person unemployment office • File a complaint with the Department of Labor • Contact your state representatives and senators It's a long process, but don't give up. You're entitled to these benefits!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping a log. Have you had any luck with the in-person office?

The in-person office was actually super helpful once I finally got an appointment. Took forever to get one tho.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing them? I know it's 2023, but sometimes these old school methods work when everything else fails.

OP, are you sure your claim is still active? Sometimes they deactivate claims if there's no activity for a while. Might explain why you're not getting any mail.

Oh man, I hadn't even thought of that. How would I check if it's still active?

You'd probably need to talk to someone directly or check your online account if you have one. Which brings us back to square one, I guess. šŸ˜…

I hate to say it, but sometimes you just gotta keep calling. I literally called 127 times in one day before I got through. It's ridiculous, but persistence pays off.

127 times?! Ain't nobody got time for that! 😫

Tell me about it. I was ready to throw my phone out the window by the end of it.

Have you checked your spam folder for emails? Sometimes their responses end up there.
