NYSDOL Waiting Week Error - Can't Reach Live Agent to Fix Claim. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm at my wits end with the unemployment system. I've been trying to fix a waiting week error on my claim for what feels like forever. The online system keeps telling me to talk to a live agent, but I can't get through to anyone. I've tried the messaging center and called so many times I've lost count. Anyone else dealing with this? Any tips on how to actually reach a human being?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was stuck in the same situation for weeks. It's like they purposely make it impossible to talk to someone 🙄

I swear the system is designed to make us give up. Stay strong, OP!

Have you tried calling right when they open? I had some luck getting through that way, but it still took forever.

Yeah, I've tried that. Even set alarms for 5 minutes before they open. No luck so far 😞

I heard they randomly open phone lines throughout the day. Might be worth trying at odd times?

Listen up, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy.

I get the skepticism, but I swear it worked for me. Was desperate enough to try anything at that point lol

Can confirm, I used it too. Felt weird paying but it saved me hours of frustration.

Here's what worked for me to fix the waiting week error: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Use the online messaging center AND call. Be persistent. 3. If possible, try to find your local unemployment office and go in person. 4. Reach out to your local state representative. Sometimes they can help push things through. 5. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 6. Make sure all your info in the online system is up to date. 7. If you get through to someone, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-up. Hope this helps! The system is a mess, but don't give up. You'll get there!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try reaching out to my rep. Didn't even think of that.

Have you tried tweeting at them? Sometimes public callouts get their attention faster.

Pro tip: if u get through, ask for a tier 2 specialist right away. They have more power to fix stuff like waiting week errors.

Oh that's good to know! I'll definitely try that if I ever manage to get someone on the line. Thanks!

guys i think i found a loophole. if you file a new claim it sometimes resets the waiting week. worked for my cousin. might be worth a try?

Careful with this advice. Filing a new claim when you shouldn't can mess things up even more. Always double check before doing something like that.
