NYDOL Waiting Week Error - Can't Get Through to Fix Claim!
Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my unemployment claim. The online system is telling me to speak to a live agent because of a 'waiting week error' that's preventing me from moving forward. I've tried using the online messaging center and called so many times, but I just can't get through to a real person. It's driving me crazy! Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually reach someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had the same issue last month. It's like they purposely make it impossible to talk to a human 🙄 Have you tried calling right when they open? That sometimes works for me.

•Yeah, I've tried that too. No luck 😞 It's either busy signals or being on hold for hours only to get disconnected.

•Pro tip: call at 7:55 AM and start redialing like crazy. Sometimes you can sneak in before the rush.

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it's real. Saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free 😒

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

The waiting week error is such a pain in the a$$. I had to deal with it last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Email your state representative. Sometimes they can intervene. 3. If you have social media, try reaching out to the unemployment office there. They sometimes respond faster. 4. Check if there's an option to schedule a callback on their website. It's hidden, but some states have it. 5. As a last resort, consider filing an appeal. It might force them to review your case. Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but don't give up!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: if you do get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-ups. Sometimes they'll give you one.

have u tried turning it off and on again? 🤣 jk jk. but for real, sometimes logging out of the system, clearing your cache, and trying again can help with weird errors.

I'm in the same boat, friend. Been trying to fix this for weeks. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our benefits 😤

•More like hide and never seek 💀 The whole system needs an overhaul

Question for those who've dealt with this before: does the waiting week error affect your backpay? I'm worried I'm gonna lose out on weeks of benefits because of this stupid glitch.

•In my experience, they usually backdate it once it's fixed. But document EVERYTHING just in case.

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you actually qualify for benefits? Sometimes these errors pop up when there's an eligibility issue. Might be worth reviewing the requirements just to be sure.

•Yeah, I've gone over everything multiple times. As far as I can tell, I meet all the criteria. That's why this is so frustrating!

•Good point. I once spent weeks trying to fix an 'error' only to find out I didn't qualify in the first place 🤦♂️

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all show up at the unemployment office in person. Cant ignore us if were right in front of them 👀

•Lol imagine the chaos. But for real, some offices are open for in-person help now. Might be worth checking!

Hey OP, what state are you in? The process can vary a lot depending on location. Might help to know for more specific advice.

•Oof, NY is tough. Their system got overwhelmed during covid and never really recovered. Hang in there!
