Oof, dealing with insurance is the worst. š¤® I swear they make everything complicated on purpose. Good luck OP, hope you get that extension!
Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: ā¢ Call them immediately. Don't wait. ā¢ Be polite but firm. You're not asking for a favor, you're requesting a reasonable accommodation due to circumstances beyond your control. ā¢ Have all your facts ready. Date you received the notice, details about the weather, any news reports about mail delays, etc. ā¢ If the first person you talk to can't help, ask for a supervisor. ā¢ Get any extension they give you in writing - email is fine. ā¢ Follow up with a written request as well, either by email or fax. ā¢ Set a reminder for yourself to follow up on this in a few days. Remember, you're not the first person to need an extension and you won't be the last. Stay calm, be persistent, and you'll get through this. Good luck!

Just a heads up, when I claimed my missed weeks, they didn't pay me for the weeks where I had partial employment. Make sure you report any income accurately to avoid overpayment issues later!
Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The whole system needs an overhaul tbh
Preach! š It's like they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people.

Totally agree. It's a full-time job just trying to get your benefits. And don't even get me started on their website... š¤®

Hey OP, congrats on the win! Quick question - did they give you any trouble about the doctor's note? I'm in a similar situation and worried they might try to dispute it.
Thanks! They actually didn't give me any trouble about the doctor's note. As long as it's official and clearly states your condition/restrictions, you should be good. Just make sure it's dated and signed!

yall ever notice how the unemployment office has worse hours than the dmv? š like, we're unemployed, we got all day... but they close at 4pm?!
LOL for real tho šÆ It's like they don't want us to get help

Bruh, I once got through after being on hold for 2 hours... at 3:59pm. They told me to call back tomorrow. I almost threw my phone š±š„

Have you tried reaching out to your state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with KDOL.
Ive been locked out of my account for 3 MONTHS. everytime I call they say theyll escalate it but nothing happens. this system is so broken
no, i didnt know I could do that. how do i file a complaint?
2M
Go to the DOL website, there's a form you can fill out. It might light a fire under KDOL's a**

Pro tip: If you're really desperate, try reaching out to your local state representative. Sometimes they can light a fire under KDOL's butt and get things moving.
That's a great idea, I hadn't even thought of that. Do you know how I'd go about contacting them?
2M
Just Google '[your city] state representative' and you should find their contact info. Most have a form on their website for constituent services. Good luck!

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes the verification emails end up there.

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system that wasn't syncing the in-person verification with online accounts. I had to go back to the post office and ask them to resend the verification. It's a pain, but it might be worth a shot.

Oof, really? That's such a hassle. But if it works, I guess I'll have to do it. Thanks for the tip!
