NY unemployment system still asking for ID.me verification even after I completed it - what now?
I completed my ID.me verification process about 10 days ago for my ny unemployment claim. Got the confirmation email and everything saying I was successfully verified. But when I call the unemployment office and enter my social security number, the automated system still tells me I need to verify through ID.me! I've tried calling back multiple times over the past week thinking maybe there was just a delay in their system updating, but I keep getting the same message. I even went back to ID.me and logged in to make sure everything was good there - it shows I'm verified! Has anyone else dealt with this issue? How long did it take for the unemployment system to recognize your ID.me verification? Do I need to do something else to make them connect? This is so frustrating because I can't get through to an actual person.

Same thing happened to me! It took almost 2 weeks for their system to update after I did the ID.me verification. The systems don't talk to each other automatically - there's some kind of manual process on their end. Keep trying and eventually it'll update. So annoying tho

•2 weeks?! That's ridiculous. Did you do anything special to make it update or it just happened randomly one day?

•Nope, just kept checking and one day it finally worked. Their systems are ancient 🤦♀️

After dealing with the exact same problem and getting nowhere for weeks, I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it got me connected to an actual human at unemployment in like 20 minutes. The agent was able to manually update my account to show I'd completed ID.me. Talking to that agent got my benefits flowing again so quickly - totally worth it! They have a good explainer video here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

•No catch! It just calls for you and waits on hold instead of you having to do it. Then alerts you when someone picks up. Saved me hours of hold music torture.

•I was skeptical too tbh. But was desperate after 3 weeks of trying. It literally just got a real person on the phone for me. That's it. The agent fixed my issue in 5 minutes.

This is a common glitch in their system. You have a few options: 1) Keep calling and hope it resolves itself (can take 2-3+ weeks) 2) Try logging into your NY.gov account and see if there's a special message or task in your dashboard 3) Email them through the secure message center explaining that you've completed ID.me but the system isn't recognizing it 4) This one worked for me: use claimyr.com to get through to a live agent who can manually fix it on their end The disconnect happens because ID.me is a third-party system and the data transfer to NYSDOL isn't automatic. Someone actually has to match your verification to your claim in their ancient database. It's ridiculous but that's how they're running things. When I finally got through to a person, they fixed it in about 2 minutes and my payments started processing the next day. Good luck!

•Windows 95? You're giving them too much credit. Probably COBOL on a mainframe from 1982 🤣

•truly tho. I used to work in government IT and can confirm these systems are ANCIENT. They've built so many janky interfaces on top of old tech that nothing works right.

CALL THIS NUMBER INSTEAD: (888) 209-8124. Use the automated system but press 0 repeatedly during their menu options. Sometimes this gets you to a person faster. If that doesn't work check out claimyr.com - it's what finally worked for me

Contact your state assembly person! This worked for me when I had id.me issues. Google your district rep and email their office explaining the situation. They have special liaisons with unemployment who can help push things through.

•THIS⬆️⬆️⬆️ assembly reps are the secret weapon for unemployment issues. My rep got my issue fixed in 3 days after I spent weeks getting nowhere.

Did you do the video call verification part of ID.me or just the basic verification? You need to complete the video call with a real person for unemployment claims.

•Yes I did the full video call where they had me show my license and take selfies and everything. Got confirmation that it was complete too.

Just wait. Took them 18 days to update my account after I did ID.me 🙄

Try creating a new ID.me account using a different email address but same personal info. Sounds weird but this worked for someone I know. The system sometimes gets confused with existing accounts.

•Don't do this! Creating multiple ID.me accounts can flag your unemployment claim for fraud investigation!

i was in the same situation for weeks and wasted so many hours on hold. finally broke down and used claimyr.com - got a actual nysdol agent on the phone who fixed it in minutes. whatever they charge it's worth avoiding the headache

I had the exact same issue! The disconnect between ID.me and the NY unemployment system is so frustrating. What finally worked for me was getting through to an actual person who could manually link my verification. I tried calling the regular number for weeks with no luck, but then used claimyr.com to get connected to a live agent. The whole thing was resolved in like 10 minutes once I talked to someone who could actually see both systems. The agent told me this happens all the time because their systems don't sync automatically - someone has to manually update your file. Definitely worth trying if you're tired of waiting!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm definitely considering using claimyr at this point. Did they charge you upfront or only after they successfully connected you to someone? I'm worried about paying for something that might not work.

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Completed my ID.me verification 8 days ago and the unemployment system still doesn't recognize it. It's so frustrating because you can see on the ID.me side that everything is verified and complete, but their old system just won't update. From reading all these comments it sounds like this is unfortunately super common and can take weeks to resolve on its own. I might have to try that claimyr service people keep mentioning - seems like actually talking to a human is the only way to get this fixed quickly. Thanks for posting this, at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess!
