How to update pregnancy delivery date on CA SDI claim? EDD contact issues

Hey everyone, I need to update the delivery date for my pregnancy on my SDI claim. Has anyone done this before? What's the best way to get through to someone at EDD? I've been trying to call but keep getting a wrong number or no answer. Any advice would be really appreciated!

yall ever notice how the hold music is always some weird jazz? like they're trying to hypnotize us into forgetting why we called 🎷ðŸŽķðŸ˜ĩ‍ðŸ’Ŧ

0 coins

Omg yes! I swear I hear that music in my nightmares now 😂

Plot twist: it's actually a secret code. If you decipher it, you automatically get your benefits ðŸ•ĩïļâ€â™€ïļ

Haha, maybe the music is there to keep us calm during the long wait!

Anyone else feel like we need an EDD support group? 😅 We could all sit in a circle and share our horror stories while eating donuts and drinking coffee.

Sign me up! I'll bring the tissues for when we inevitably start crying 😭

Lmao I'm in. We can call it "EDD Anonymous" ðŸĪĢ

This sounds therapeutic! We need all the camaraderie we can get.

Guys, I think I figured it out. We need to perform a ritual sacrifice to the EDD gods. Anyone have a spare goat? 🐐ðŸ”Ū

To address your issue, Claimyr can certainly be a feasible option for reaching EDD, especially if time is of the essence. It's designed to streamline the process of getting through to an agent without the usual hassle. However, it's essential to weigh the $20 fee against your personal budget and urgency. It's worth noting that there are free alternatives, such as trying at different times or reaching out to your local assembly member. Additionally, staying organized with all necessary documents is crucial once you finally get through. Ultimately, persistence and patience are key in dealing with EDD.

Protip: If you're gonna be on hold for hours, put your phone on speaker and do something productive. I cleaned my whole apartment last time I called EDD 😅

Lol, that's actually a great idea. Maybe I'll finally organize my baby stuff while I wait!

This is the way. I've started learning a new language during my EDD hold times. Might be fluent in Spanish by the time I get my claim sorted 🇊ðŸ‡ļ😂

Turning hold time into productive time is genius!

Here's what worked for me to update my SDI claim info: 1. Call this number: 1-800-480-3287 2. Press 1 for English (or 2 for Spanish) 3. Press 1 for "Questions about your claim" 4. Enter your SSN when prompted 5. Press 2 for "All other questions" 6. Wait on hold (it took me about 45 minutes) Once you get through, explain that you need to update your pregnancy delivery date. They should be able to do it right away. Make sure you have your claim number and all relevant dates handy. Also, try calling on Tuesday or Wednesday mid-morning. I've found those times to be less busy. Hope this helps! Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck with your claim!

I tried this method last week and it worked! Only had to wait 30 mins. You da real MVP 🏆

I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total clown show ðŸĪĄ I've been trying to sort out my claim for months. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our money.

Clown show is right! 🎊 Sometimes I wonder if they're just a bunch of monkeys throwing darts at a board to decide who gets help.

LOL that would explain a lot actually. Maybe we should send them some bananas to improve service 🍌🐒

Have you tried updating it online? Sometimes you can make changes through your account without having to call. Might be worth checking out before you spend hours on hold.

0 coins

Nia Harris

â€Ē

I tried that first, but for some reason it wouldn't let me change the delivery date online. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

0 coins

Same here. The online system is so glitchy, I swear it's designed to make us give up 🙄

â€Ē

I had success updating other details online, but I guess it depends on the specific type of update needed.

0 coins

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you have all your docs ready when you finally get through. They asked me for like a million things when I updated my info. Better to be prepared!

â€Ē

Solid advice, they always seem to need something extra!

Sending positive vibes your way, OP! Pregnancy is stressful enough without having to deal with EDD nonsense. Hope you get it sorted soon! âĪïļðŸ‘ķ

Ugh, dealing with EDD is such a pain. I had to update my info too and it took forever to get through. Keep trying different numbers and times of day. Good luck!

have u tried faxing? i know it sounds old school but sometimes it works when nothing else does lol

0 coins

Nia Harris

â€Ē

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I might give it a shot if I can't get through on the phone. Do you know the fax number?

0 coins

lmao i know right? but desperate times call for desperate measures ðŸĪ·â€â™‚ïļ i think its on their website somewhere

0 coins

Fax might seem outdated, but it's been a lifesaver when digital methods fail. Worth keeping in mind.

i swear the edd website was designed by a toddler using crayons and a potato. how is it so bad in 2023??? ðŸĨ”ðŸ’ŧ

Hey now, don't insult toddlers like that. They could probably design a better site 😜

â€Ē

It's baffling how outdated it feels. We deserve a better system!

0 coins

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

0 coins

Wow, really? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

0 coins

Ethan Moore

â€Ē

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken ðŸĪĶ‍♀ïļ

0 coins

I know it sounds crazy, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what helped me out!

0 coins

I used Claimyr as well, and it was pretty effective. The investment was worth it, given the time and sanity saved. However, I can understand how the fee might not be feasible for everyone.

Has anyone tried contacting their local assembly member's office? I've heard they can sometimes help push things through with EDD.

0 coins

This! My friend did this and got her issue resolved in like a week. Def worth a shot.

I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for the tip! I'll look up my assembly member now.

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last week. Good luck with your pregnancy!

â€Ē

This is solid advice! Early morning calls have been my best bet too.

0 coins

Hey Nia! I went through something similar when I had to update my SDI claim info. One thing that really helped me was calling right at 8 AM when they first open - the wait times are much shorter then. Also, make sure you have your claim number, SSN, and the exact new delivery date written down before you call so you're ready to go. The representatives are usually pretty helpful once you actually get through to them. Wishing you the best with your pregnancy and hope you get this sorted out quickly! ðŸĪž

â€Ē

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try calling first thing in the morning. Having everything written down beforehand is such good advice - I hate when I finally get through and then can't find my paperwork! 😅

0 coins

Ugh, I feel you on this! When I needed to update my delivery date for my SDI claim, I literally called 47 times before getting through (yes, I kept count because I'm petty like that 😂). What finally worked for me was calling the 1-800-480-3287 number at exactly 8:02 AM on a Wednesday - apparently those first few minutes after they open are golden. Also, have your social, claim number, and both your old and new delivery dates ready to rattle off quickly. The rep I got was actually super nice and updated everything in like 5 minutes once I finally reached a human. Don't give up! And congrats on your little one! ðŸ‘ķâœĻ

0 coins

47 times?! Wow, you have way more patience than me! 😅 But seriously, thank you for sharing the exact timing and number - 8:02 AM on Wednesday is super specific and I love that you figured out the magic formula. I'm definitely going to try this tomorrow morning. It's so encouraging to hear that the rep was actually helpful once you got through! Sometimes I wonder if they're as frustrated with the system as we are.

0 coins

I've been lurking on this thread and wow, you all are giving me life with these comments! 😂 But on a serious note, Nia, I actually just went through this exact same thing last month. The trick that worked for me was calling the 1-800-480-3287 number at 8:05 AM sharp on a Tuesday (seems like early morning is definitely the way to go based on what everyone's saying here!). When you get through the menu, make sure you have your delivery date change request written out clearly - they'll ask for your old expected date and your new actual delivery date. The whole call took about 10 minutes once I got a human on the line. Also, they might ask for your doctor's contact info just to verify, so have that ready too. Really hope this helps and congrats on your pregnancy! This community is amazing with all the support and humor - we're all in this EDD struggle together! 💊âœĻ

0 coins

This is such helpful info! I love how specific everyone is getting with their timing - it's like we're all EDD call strategists now 😄 The tip about having the doctor's contact info ready is clutch, I wouldn't have thought of that! It's amazing how this thread has become like a masterclass in navigating the EDD maze. Thanks for sharing your success story, it gives me hope that there's actually light at the end of this bureaucratic tunnel! 🌟
