Can't check if SDI claim is active - EDD impossible to reach. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to check if my SDI claim is active but I can't seem to get through to anyone. Has anyone else had trouble getting in touch with EDD lately? I've been trying for days and it's so frustrating. Any tips on how to actually talk to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I've been trying to get through for weeks about my claim. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits 🙄

Same here! Its like playing the lottery trying to get someone on the phone. I've started setting alarms to call right when they open.

Have you tried calling at different times of the day? I had some luck getting through in the afternoon once.

Yeah, I've tried morning, noon, and night. No dice. Maybe I should try smoke signals next 🤣

I actually found a way to get through! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls EDD for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate enough to give it a shot. Totally worth it to finally get my claim sorted.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically they have some automated system that navigates the phone menu and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone to connect you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through your UI Online account. Sometimes they respond faster that way.

Has anyone had any luck with the local EDD offices? I heard some of them are open for in-person appointments now.

I tried that last week. The wait was insane, but I did eventually talk to someone. Bring a book if you go that route!

Which office did you go to? I'm thinking about trying this too

I swear, dealing with EDD is like trying to nail jello to a wall 🤦‍♂️ I've been waiting on my SDI claim for months now. Anyone know if there's a way to escalate the issue?

Have you tried contacting your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

Oh man, I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a shot.

Okay, here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Use UI Online to send messages and check your claim status. 3. Call right when they open (8:00 AM) for the best chance of getting through. 4. If you're really stuck, consider using a paid service like Claimyr to get through. 5. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, messages, and claim updates. 6. If all else fails, reach out to your local state representative for help. Hope this helps someone! We're all in this frustrating boat together. 💪

This is gold! Thanks for sharing your experience. Wish EDD would get their act together so we didn't have to jump through all these hoops.

Great advice! I'd add: make sure you have all your paperwork in order before you call. It'll save time when you finally get through.

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? It's so demoralizing 😞

Preach! 🙌 Sometimes I wonder if they're just hoping we'll get tired and stop trying

Hang in there! I know it sucks, but don't let them win. You deserve your benefits!

PSA: If you're having trouble with your SDI claim, make sure you've submitted all the required medical documentation. I found out the hard way that my claim was held up because my doctor hadn't sent in the right forms.
