EDD SDI login error: Account exists with my driver's license number, can't file claim. Payment timeline?
I'm having trouble logging into my state disability account online. The website says someone else already has an account with my driver's license number. Has anyone else run into this problem? I need to file a claim and get an account number for my medical provider. Also, does anyone know how long it usually takes to get payments and how they're sent out?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. https://claimyr.com

I work in HR and deal with this stuff all the time. Here's a detailed breakdown of what you should do: 1. Call EDD immediately. Be prepared to verify your identity multiple ways. 2. While waiting for that to resolve, gather all necessary documents: - Pay stubs - W-2 forms - Medical certification (if applicable) - Any correspondence you've had with EDD so far 3. Follow up with your medical provider to ensure they have all the info they need from you. 4. Set up account alerts so you're notified of any activity. 5. Be patient but persistent. Follow up regularly if you don't hear back. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to escalate if you're not getting anywhere.

I've been dealing with EDD for months now, and let me tell you, it's a nightmare. Here's what you need to know about payments: ⢠Processing time: Usually takes about 14 days for a new claim ⢠Payment frequency: Every two weeks after approval ⢠Payment method: EDD Debit Card from Bank of America ⢠Alternative: You can set up direct deposit once you have account access As for the login issue, definitely call them ASAP. The longer you wait, the more of a headache it'll be.

It sounds like you're having a frustrating experience, and I definitely empathize. Based on what you've described, the problem with your driver's license number being used by someone else could be due to a number of issues, including administrative mistakes or even identity theft. First and foremost, contact the EDD directly to report this issue. Their customer service can be slow and the wait times are often long, but this is your best chance of getting the issue resolved. Using a service like Claimyr can indeed expedite the process if you find the wait times unbearable, but keep in mind it costs a fee. Once you've regained access, you should also consider setting up direct deposit for your payments as it is generally a more secure and faster method than relying on the debit card system. Processing initially takes around 14 days, but after that, payments should be more regular. To address the identity theft concern, check your credit report through AnnualCreditReport.com to see if there are any unusual activities. Lastly, you might want to consider reaching out to your local assembly member for additional support. They can sometimes advocate on your behalf with the EDD. Remember, persistency is key in these situations, so keep following up. Hopefully, it all gets resolved soon.

I had a similar issue with my SDI account a few months ago! The driver's license number conflict is usually a database error on their end. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call the SDI customer service line early in the morning (around 8 AM) - you'll have better luck getting through 2. Have your Social Security number, full name, and birth date ready for verification 3. Ask them to do a "manual account search" to see if there's a duplicate entry For the payment timeline, once your claim is approved: - First payment typically takes 2-3 weeks - After that, payments are bi-weekly - They usually come on a Bank of America EDD debit card (unless you set up direct deposit) - You can track payment status online once your account is active The whole process is frustrating, but don't give up! The squeaky wheel really does get the grease with EDD. Good luck! š¤

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! The driver's license number conflict is surprisingly common - it happened because someone at EDD accidentally entered my DL number into another person's account during manual data entry. Here's what finally worked for me: - Called the EDD technical support line (not regular customer service) at 1-800-300-5616 - Asked to speak with a "systems specialist" who could access the backend database - They were able to locate the duplicate entry and remove it within 24 hours - Make sure to get a case number for follow-up For payments, once everything is sorted: - SDI payments are typically 60-70% of your average weekly wage - First payment usually takes 10-14 business days after approval - Payments come every 2 weeks after that - Default is the EDD debit card, but you can switch to direct deposit online Also, your medical provider doesn't actually need your account number right away - they can submit the forms with just your SSN and they'll match it up later in the system. Hang in there - it's a pain but totally fixable! šŖ

I had almost the exact same issue last year! The driver's license number conflict is more common than you'd think - it's usually a data entry error on EDD's end where someone accidentally typed your DL number into another person's account. Here's what I'd recommend based on my experience: **For the login issue:** - Call EDD's SDI line at (800) 480-3287 first thing in the morning (8 AM sharp) - Ask specifically for help with a "duplicate driver's license number conflict" - Have your SSN, full name, DOB, and DL number ready for verification - If the first rep can't help, ask to be transferred to a supervisor **For payment timeline:** - Once your claim is approved, first payment typically takes 2-3 weeks - After that, payments come every 2 weeks - Default method is the EDD debit card from Bank of America - You can set up direct deposit later once you have account access - SDI pays about 60-70% of your average weekly wage (up to the maximum) **Pro tip:** Your medical provider can actually start the process with just your SSN - they don't need your account number immediately. The system will match everything up once your account is active. Don't give up! This is definitely solvable, just requires some persistence with their phone system. Good luck! š¤

I've been through this nightmare before! The driver's license conflict is usually a system glitch where EDD accidentally linked your DL number to someone else's account during data entry. Here's what worked for me after weeks of frustration: **Call Strategy:** - Try calling right at 8:00 AM when they open - you'll get through faster - Use the SDI-specific line: (800) 480-3287 - When you get through, explain it as a "duplicate driver's license entry error" - Ask them to check for "orphaned records" in their system **What to have ready:** - Your SSN, full name, DOB, and current address - Any previous EDD correspondence or claim numbers - Your actual driver's license (they may ask for issue date, etc.) **Payment info once it's resolved:** - SDI typically pays 60-70% of your weekly wage (capped at current maximum) - First payment: 2-3 weeks after approval - Ongoing: Every 2 weeks via EDD debit card or direct deposit - You can track everything online once your account is active The good news is your doctor can start the paperwork process with just your SSN - they don't need to wait for your account number! Hang in there, this IS fixable even though it's incredibly frustrating. Document every call and don't be afraid to ask for supervisors if the first person can't help! šŖ

I went through this exact same driver's license conflict issue about 8 months ago - it's so frustrating but totally solvable! Here's what finally worked for me after trying everything else: **The key breakthrough:** I called the EDD Identity Verification unit directly at (866) 362-8854. This is different from regular customer service and they specifically handle account conflicts like this. **What to say:** "I need help with a driver's license number conflict preventing me from accessing my SDI account. I believe my DL number was incorrectly linked to another person's account." **Best times to call:** Tuesday-Thursday between 8:00-8:30 AM (Mondays and Fridays are swamped) **What they'll do:** They can see duplicate entries across the entire system and manually unlink your DL number from the wrong account. Mine was fixed within 48 hours! **For payments once resolved:** - SDI pays 60-70% of your weekly wages (up to $1,620/week max in 2024) - First payment takes about 14 business days after approval - Then bi-weekly payments via EDD debit card (you can switch to direct deposit later) **Pro tip:** Start gathering your pay stubs now - you'll need the last 5-18 months depending on when you became disabled. The sooner you have everything ready, the faster your claim processes once the account issue is fixed. Don't lose hope! This community has your back and this problem is definitely fixable. Keep us posted on how the call goes! šŖ

I'm so sorry you're going through this frustrating situation! I've been dealing with EDD for a while now and it's always something. For the driver's license conflict issue, definitely try calling that Identity Verification unit number that Emma mentioned - (866) 362-8854. I've heard really good things about them being able to actually fix these duplicate entry problems quickly. Also, just wanted to add that while you're waiting for the account issue to get resolved, you might want to start gathering all your documentation now: - Recent pay stubs (last 12-18 months if possible) - Medical records related to your disability - Any doctor's notes or treatment records - W-2s from the past year Having everything ready to go will speed up the actual claim process once you can log in. The waiting is the worst part, but hang in there - this community has shown that these problems are definitely solvable with the right approach and persistence! Keep us updated on how it goes! š¤

I've been lurking in this community for a while and finally had to create an account to help with this issue! I work as a benefits coordinator and see these EDD/SDI problems all the time. The driver's license conflict is definitely a backend database issue - I've seen it happen when EDD staff manually enter data and accidentally transpose numbers or link records incorrectly. Here's my recommendation: **Try this approach:** 1. Call the EDD SDI line at (800) 480-3287 at exactly 8:00 AM 2. When you get through, say: "I need technical support for a driver's license number conflict in the SDI system" 3. Ask to be transferred to their "Data Integrity" team (not regular customer service) 4. Request they run a "cross-reference check" on your SSN and DL number **For your medical provider:** They can absolutely start the process with just your SSN and your name. The account number gets matched up automatically once your profile is active, so don't stress about that part! **Payment timeline reality check:** - Initial processing: 14-21 business days (not calendar days) - SDI pays 60-70% of your weekly wage up to $1,620/week max - Payments are bi-weekly via EDD debit card initially - You can switch to direct deposit once logged in I know it's frustrating, but this is 100% fixable. Document every call with date/time/representative name. You've got this! šŖ

I'm dealing with a very similar situation right now! The driver's license conflict issue seems to be more widespread than EDD acknowledges. Based on all the great advice in this thread, I'm planning to call the Identity Verification unit at (866) 362-8854 on Tuesday morning around 8 AM and specifically ask about "orphaned records" and duplicate DL entries. One thing I wanted to add that might help others - I found out that you can also file a complaint with the California State Disability Insurance Appeals Board if you're not getting anywhere with regular channels. It's form DE 1000M and sometimes just the threat of filing an appeal can get things moving faster. Also, for anyone worried about missing deadlines while dealing with account issues - SDI claims can be backdated up to 49 days from when you first became disabled, so you're not completely out of luck if this takes a few weeks to resolve. Thanks everyone for sharing such detailed experiences and solutions. This community is amazing! š

ā¢This is such helpful additional information! I had no idea about the DE 1000M form or that SDI claims could be backdated up to 49 days - that takes a lot of pressure off knowing I have that buffer while sorting out the account issue. I'm definitely going to try the Identity Verification unit approach first, but it's really reassuring to know there are other escalation paths available. This thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm actually dealing with a similar driver's license conflict issue right now and all these specific tips and phone numbers are exactly what I needed. The terminology everyone has shared here seems crucial for getting connected to the right people who can actually fix these backend database issues. One question for those who have successfully resolved this - did you notice any delays in your first payment after getting the account access sorted out? I'm wondering if the initial database conflict causes any additional processing delays or if things move normally once the duplicate entry is cleared. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to share their experiences. This community support is what gets us through these bureaucratic nightmares! š

ā¢Great question about payment delays after resolving the account conflict! From what I've seen in similar cases, once the duplicate DL entry is cleared and your account is properly set up, the payment timeline usually proceeds normally - so you'd still be looking at that 14-21 business day processing window from when your claim is officially submitted. The database fix itself shouldn't add extra delays to the payment schedule. However, I'd definitely recommend asking about this specifically when you call the Identity Verification unit, since they'll be able to see exactly what happened with your account and whether any additional processing time might be needed. Good luck with your Tuesday morning call - you've got all the right terminology and phone numbers now! š¤
