EDD SDI Online Claim Filing Issues - System Won't Let Me Submit Paperwork
Has anyone else been having trouble filing their disability claim online? I've been trying to submit my paperwork for days now, but the system just won't let me do it. It's so frustrating! I'm worried about missing deadlines and losing out on benefits. Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

guys I figured it out!!! you need to do the hokey pokey while clicking submit, spin around three times, and sacrifice a goat to the EDD gods. works every time 60% of the time 😎

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, you have to pay to talk to someone? That seems kinda sketchy...

•How long did you have to wait? Is it really worth the $20?

•I know it sounds weird to pay, but honestly, it saved me so much time and stress. I got through in about an hour instead of spending days trying to call myself. For me, it was totally worth it.

•Idk man, paying to access a government service doesn't sit right with me. There's gotta be a better way.

•I've heard good things about Claimyr, but it's definitely not ideal that we're in a situation where people feel they need to pay a third party to access services. It's worth considering all your options and maybe using this as a last resort.

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with the EDD for years, and here's what I've learned: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all your paperwork and screenshots of error messages. 2. Be persistent. If the online system isn't working, try calling. If calling doesn't work, try faxing or mailing. 3. Reach out to your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. 4. Use social media. Tweet at the EDD or post on their Facebook. Sometimes public pressure helps. 5. Consider using a paid service like the one mentioned earlier if you're really stuck. Remember, the system is designed to be frustrating. Don't give up! Your benefits are your right.

•This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit tbh 💯

•The fact that we need a strategy guide to access basic services is ridiculous 🤦♂️

•This is great advice. I also recommend setting reminders for deadlines so you don't miss important dates while navigating this maze.

Anyone else notice that the website seems to work better late at night? I managed to submit my claim at like 2 AM when I couldn't sleep. Might be worth a shot!

•That's interesting! Maybe there's less traffic at those hours.

Have you tried faxing your paperwork? I know it's like, 1995 all over again, but sometimes the old school methods work when the website is being a pain.

•Lol, I don't even know where to find a fax machine these days 😂 But thanks for the suggestion!

•There are online fax services you can use! Just Google it, way easier than finding an actual fax machine lmao

•Online faxing is surprisingly handy, especially for those of us who don't own fax machines. Just make sure you're using a reputable service!

I'm in the same boat, been trying to file for weeks. This whole system is a joke. We need to organize and demand better service!

•Preach! 🙌 Maybe we should start a petition or something?

•Petitions have worked in the past! It might take time, but it's definitely a step towards change.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The online system is a total nightmare. I had the same issue last month. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes talking to a real person is the only way to get things done.

•Yeah, I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's like they don't want us to actually file our claims 🙄

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way!

I swear the EDD website was designed by a team of drunk monkeys. How hard is it to make a system that actually works?!

•It's infuriating that critical systems aren't more user-friendly. Hopefully, they'll improve it with enough feedback from users.

Has anyone tried using a different browser? Sometimes these government websites are optimized for older versions of Internet Explorer or something equally ridiculous.

I understand the frustration with filing your disability claim online and the systems not working as expected. One option to explore is using assistance tools like Claimyr, mentioned earlier. While it's a paid service, many users have found success in reducing wait times and stress. It's designed to handle the cumbersome phone systems, allowing you to connect with an agent more efficiently. However, it's crucial to weigh the cost against your situation. If you're on a tight budget, consider free alternatives first, like calling during off-peak hours or repeatedly attempting to reach an agent. Also, as others have mentioned, documenting every interaction is vital. This includes dates, times, and any errors you encounter, which could be useful if you have to escalate your case to a higher authority, such as your state's representative. Finally, if online filing continues to be problematic, try a less conventional approach like mail or fax (using online services). These methods may take longer, but they ensure your documents are submitted. Keep being persistent, reach out to community forums, and don't hesitate to contact local advocacy groups that specialize in disability claims and rights. They can offer guidance tailored to your state's specific processes.

I've been dealing with similar issues! What finally worked for me was clearing my browser cache completely and then trying a different browser altogether. I also discovered that the EDD site seems to have better stability during weekday afternoons (around 2-4 PM) when there's less traffic. One thing that really helped was keeping a detailed log of every attempt - screenshot the error messages, note the exact time, and document what steps you took. This documentation became super valuable when I finally got through to a human representative. Also, if you're still stuck, try accessing the site through a VPN or different internet connection - sometimes it's a regional server issue. I know it sounds crazy, but I actually had success filing from a library computer when my home internet kept failing on the site. Don't give up! The system is definitely broken, but there are workarounds. Keep trying different approaches and times of day. Your persistence will pay off eventually.

•This is super helpful! I never thought about trying different times of day or using a VPN. The library computer idea is genius - sometimes you just have to get creative with these broken systems. Thanks for sharing what actually worked for you instead of just complaining about how bad it is (though the complaints are totally valid too lol). Definitely going to try the 2-4 PM window you mentioned!

•The library computer trick is brilliant! I'm definitely going to try that. It's wild that we have to resort to these kinds of workarounds just to access basic government services, but I appreciate you sharing what actually works. The timing suggestion is really interesting too - I've been trying mostly in the evenings when I get home from work, so maybe switching to those afternoon hours will help. Quick question though - when you say clear browser cache completely, do you mean just the regular clear browsing data or is there a more thorough way to do it?

•@Dylan Cooper For the browser cache clearing, I mean the deep clean! Go to your browser settings and clear everything - cookies, cached images, stored data, the works. Don t'just use Ctrl+Shift+Delete, actually go into settings and make sure you re'clearing data from all "time not" just the last hour or day. I also disable any browser extensions temporarily since some can interfere with government sites. And yes, the afternoon timing thing is real - I think it s'because most people are either at work or school, so there s'less load on the servers. Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you!

I've been in your exact situation and it's incredibly frustrating! Here are a few things that worked for me after weeks of struggling: First, try using Microsoft Edge or Firefox instead of Chrome - I know it sounds random but the EDD site seems to have compatibility issues with certain browsers. Also, make sure JavaScript is enabled and disable any ad blockers temporarily. Second, I had success submitting my claim very early in the morning (around 6-7 AM) or late at night after 10 PM when server traffic is lower. The system seems to crash less during these off-peak hours. If the online system keeps failing, don't hesitate to mail your paperwork as a backup. Yes, it's slower, but at least you'll have proof of submission before any deadlines. Send it certified mail so you have tracking. One last tip - if you're getting specific error codes or messages, write them down exactly as they appear. When you finally get through to someone (whether by phone or in person), having those exact error details helps them troubleshoot your account faster. Stay persistent! The system is broken but your benefits are worth fighting for. Document everything and don't let them wear you down.

•This is such solid advice! I'm dealing with the same nightmare right now and the browser suggestion is really helpful - I've been banging my head against Chrome this whole time. The timing thing makes total sense too, I bet the servers are just overwhelmed during normal business hours when everyone's trying to access them. The certified mail backup is smart, I hadn't thought of that but you're absolutely right about having proof of submission. Better safe than sorry with these deadlines! Quick question though - when you say write down the exact error codes, are you talking about those cryptic technical error messages or just the general "system unavailable" type stuff? I've been getting both and wasn't sure which ones actually matter to the reps. Thanks for taking the time to share what worked for you instead of just venting (though the venting is totally justified lol). It gives me hope that there's actually a way through this mess!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now and it's driving me absolutely crazy! I've been trying for over a week to submit my SDI paperwork and keep getting different error messages each time. Sometimes it's "session timeout" even though I just logged in, other times it just sits there spinning forever when I hit submit. What's really frustrating is that I can get through most of the application but it always fails right at the final submission step. I've tried different browsers, cleared my cache, even tried from my phone - nothing works consistently. I'm getting really worried about missing the deadline since I'm already a few days into this mess. Has anyone had luck with calling the technical support line? I saw there's a separate number for website issues but wasn't sure if it's actually helpful or just another dead end. Really appreciate everyone sharing their workarounds here - definitely going to try the early morning/late night approach and maybe hit up the library if my home internet keeps being problematic. It's ridiculous that we have to be this resourceful just to access basic services we're entitled to, but I guess that's the reality we're dealing with.
