EDD website error when trying to file new claim - help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble filing a new claim online. Every time I try to access the form, it just says 'error'. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to get around it?

Ugh, classic EDD website issues. 🙄 Have you tried using a different browser? Sometimes that works for me when I get random errors.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a shot and report back.

Chrome always works best for me with government sites. Firefox tends to glitch out more often idk why

clearing your cache and cookies might help too. worth a try before switching browsers

I had the same issue last week! It was so frustrating. What worked for me was waiting until late at night (like 2 AM) to file. The system seemed less overloaded then. Good luck!

Have you tried calling them? I know its a pain, but sometimes thats the only way to get things done with EDD.

Ive been trying to call all morning but cant get through. its so frustrating!

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It costs $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny tbh

Idk man, paying to get through to a government agency feels wrong. Shouldnt this be free?

I get where youre coming from, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day trying to get through. To each their own tho 🤷‍♂️

Here's a detailed guide that might help: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies 2. Try using incognito/private browsing mode 3. Disable any ad-blockers or VPNs 4. Make sure your browser is up to date 5. Try a different device if possible (e.g., switch from computer to phone) 6. If all else fails, try during off-peak hours (early morning or late night) If none of these work, you might need to contact EDD directly. Hope this helps!

Wow, thank you so much for this comprehensive list! I'll work through these steps and see if I can get it sorted.

This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit tbh. So helpful!

am i the only 1 who thinks its ridiculous we have to jump through all these hoops just to file a claim? the system is broken af 😤

Preach! 🙌 Its 2023 and we're still dealing with government websites that look and function like they're from 1999.

Fr fr. My grandma could design a better website than EDD 💀

Have you checked if there's any scheduled maintenance? Sometimes they do updates and the site acts up for a while after.

I feel your pain, OP. I've been trying to sort out an issue with my claim for THREE MONTHS now. The online system is a joke, and getting through on the phone is like winning the lottery. Hang in there!

Three months?! That's insane. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Plot twist: the error is actually a feature, not a bug. EDD's secret plan to reduce claims by making it impossible to file them 🤡

lmao wouldn't even be surprised at this point 😂

I had this exact same issue last month! What finally worked for me was using Edge browser (I know, I know, but hear me out) and making sure JavaScript was enabled. Also try disabling any browser extensions temporarily - sometimes they interfere with government sites. The EDD website is notoriously finicky but these steps got me through. If you're still stuck after trying the browser fixes, you might want to try filing during off-peak hours like super early morning (5-7 AM). Good luck!
