Late DE 2593 form submission causing delay in SDI payments - need help!

I've been having issues with my disability payments for weeks now. I didn't receive any payments and couldn't get through on the phone. When I finally checked my claim portal, I realized there was a form I needed to submit, but it was already late. Now I'm worried this late submission is causing the delay in my payments. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to fix this mess?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The EDD system is such a nightmare to navigate. I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblyperson's office? They can sometimes help expedite these things.

Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought of that. How long did it take for them to help you out?

It took about 2 weeks for them to get back to me, but once they did, things moved pretty quickly. Just be persistent!

This is solid advice. I second reaching out to your local rep. They have special channels to EDD that can really speed things up.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Fill out the late form ASAP if you haven't already. 2. Call EDD first thing in the morning (8:00 AM sharp) for the best chance of getting through. 3. If you can't get through, try the online contact form and explain your situation. 4. Document everything - dates you called, forms you submitted, etc. 5. If all else fails, contact your local assemblyperson or state senator's office. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but keep at it and you'll get your payments sorted out.

lmao welcome to the wonderful world of EDD 🤡 where the rules are made up and the deadlines don't matter

Have you checked if theres any updates to the disability forms? I heard they changed some stuff recently and it's been causing all sorts of issues.

Oh no, I hadn't heard about that. Do you know where I can find info on the updates?

Try checking the EDD website under 'News and Announcements'. They usually post updates there. Good luck!

Preach! 🙌 The EDD needs a complete overhaul. It's ridiculous how difficult they make it to get the help we need.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments. Sometimes they can transfer you to the right person. I got lucky with the tax department once.

Anyone else notice how they never seem to have issues when it comes to taking money FROM us? But when we need help, suddenly everything's broken 🙄

Hey Joshua, I went through something similar a few months ago. The key is to stay on top of it and don't let them brush you off. Here's what worked for me: 1. Submit that late form immediately if you haven't already - better late than never 2. When you call, ask specifically about "expedited processing" for late submissions due to hardship 3. Keep detailed records of every call, including rep names and case numbers 4. If they give you the runaround, escalate to a supervisor immediately The good news is that once they process your late form, they should backdate your payments to cover the gap. It's frustrating but hang in there - you'll get through this! Also, definitely try that assemblyperson tip that others mentioned. They have direct lines to EDD that can cut through a lot of the red tape.

This is incredibly helpful advice! I'm definitely going to ask about expedited processing - I didn't even know that was an option. Really appreciate you taking the time to share what worked for you. It gives me hope that this will get sorted out soon. Did you have to wait long for the backpay once they processed everything?

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - missed a deadline on some paperwork and now my payments are stuck in limbo. It's so stressful when you're already dealing with a disability and then have to navigate this bureaucratic maze on top of it. One thing I learned from my case worker is that you can request a "good cause" review for late submissions, especially if you can document that you didn't receive proper notice or had circumstances beyond your control. Might be worth mentioning when you call. Also, don't feel bad about the late submission - their notification system is terrible and so many people miss these deadlines. You're definitely not alone in this struggle!

Thank you for sharing this - it's really comforting to know I'm not the only one dealing with this mess! The "good cause" review sounds like exactly what I need to ask about. I had no idea that was even an option. You're absolutely right about their notification system being terrible - I never got any alerts or emails about the form being due. Really appreciate the encouragement too, this whole situation has been so overwhelming on top of everything else I'm dealing with health-wise.

I've been through this exact same nightmare! Late DE 2593 submissions are unfortunately super common because their notification system is basically non-existent. Here's what saved me: 1. Call the disability line at exactly 8:00 AM - set multiple alarms if you have to 2. When you get through, immediately ask for a "hardship expedite" on your late form processing 3. Mention that the delay is causing financial hardship (they have special protocols for this) 4. Get the rep's name and a case/reference number for everything The frustrating part is they'll likely backdate your payments once processed, but it can take 2-3 weeks. I know that doesn't help with immediate bills, but at least you'll get everything you're owed. Also, if you have any documentation showing you didn't receive proper notice of the deadline (like email confirmations, mail delivery issues, etc.), mention that too. They can sometimes waive late penalties with good cause. Hang in there - this system is broken but you WILL get through it! 💪
