EDD disability claim extension: No updates or payments for months. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some major frustration with my disability claim. I filed for an extension through my doctor a while back, but I haven't received any updates in the mail. Even worse, I haven't gotten any payments in months. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any advice on how to check the status or speed things up? I'm really starting to worry about my finances.

I found a way to solve disability claim payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdlNc9XJcNg

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. Have you tried calling the EDD? Fair warning though, it's like trying to win the lottery to get through to a real person.

Yeah, I've tried calling but it's impossible to get through. I've been trying for weeks now. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I managed to get through once doing that, but it took like 20 attempts 🙄

Calling is useless tbh. I spent hours trying and never got anywhere. There has to be a better way!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's legit, promise!

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep redialing for you?

Yeah, basically it uses some kind of AI to navigate the phone menu and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone. Saved me hours of frustration.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, letters, and online communications. 2. If you can, use their online portal to check your claim status. Sometimes it's more up-to-date than what they tell you on the phone. 3. Reach out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help push things along. 4. Be persistent but polite. The people on the phone didn't cause the delay, but they might be able to help. 5. Check if there are any forms you need to fill out for the extension. Sometimes they don't tell you about these. 6. If all else fails, consider filing an appeal. It's a hassle, but it can get things moving. Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess, but don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. I hadn't thought about contacting my state rep - that's a great idea.

I swear the EDD is run by a bunch of 🤡🤡🤡 How hard is it to process claims and send updates? We're not asking for the moon here!

Preach! 👏👏👏 It's like they're stuck in the stone age or smthn

Hey now, let's not insult clowns like that. At least clowns TRY to make people happy 😂

Guys, I think I figured out why everything's so slow. EDD actually stands for Extremely Delayed Department. Mystery solved! 🕵️‍♂️

LMAO 🤣 I thought it was Every Day Disappointment

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing them? I heard it might be faster, but idk if that's just an urban legend at this point.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 📠😂

I actually tried this! It didn't speed things up, but at least I knew they received it. Got a confirmation page and everything.

OP, whatever you do, don't give up. I know it feels hopeless, but persistence is key. Took me 5 months to get my issue resolved, but it finally happened. Sending good vibes your way! ✨

Thank you so much for the encouragement. It really helps to know I'm not alone in this struggle. 🙏

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - filed for extension months ago and radio silence since then. One thing that helped me was sending a certified letter to their main office with copies of all my documentation. At least that way you have proof they received it and a timeline. Also, try logging into your online account daily - sometimes status updates appear there before you get any mail. I know it's exhausting, but don't lose hope. The system is broken but your claim is still valid. Keep fighting for what you're owed! 💪
