SDI Payment Delayed for a Month - Any Advice to Speed Up Process?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated. It's been about a month since I applied for disability and I still haven't received any payment. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to speed up the process or at least get some information about what's going on with my claim?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through the same thing last year. It took them almost 6 weeks to process my claim and start payments. The system is so backed up its ridiculous.

•6 weeks? You got lucky! I had to wait 3 months for my first payment. The whole system is a joke 🤡

•Wow, 3 months? That's insane. How did you manage to survive that long without income?

•It was rough, had to borrow money from family and max out my credit cards. Still trying to recover financially tbh

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you can get more info if you actually talk to a human.

•I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have to try a few days in a row, but thats how I finally got through

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic customer service 😡

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally get some answers.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with disability claims: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, letters, and interactions with the disability office. 2. Make sure your application is 100% complete. Any missing info can cause major delays. 3. If possible, get your doctor to follow up on your behalf. Sometimes medical providers can get through faster. 4. Check your online account regularly for updates or requests for additional information. 5. Be persistent but polite when calling. The people answering phones didn't create the backlog. 6. Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They sometimes can help expedite claims. 7. If you're in dire financial straits, look into local charities or assistance programs that might be able to help while you wait. Hang in there, OP. I know it's frustrating, but keep pushing. You'll get your benefits eventually!

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep, I hadn't thought of that.

idk if this helps, but I noticed my claim went through faster when I uploaded all my medical records to the online portal instead of waiting for them to request them

Has anyone else noticed that the wait times seem to be getting worse? I swear it used to be better a few years ago.

•Yep, its definately gotten worse. I think they're understaffed and overwhelmed with claims since the pandemic

•agreed. plus all the fraud theyve had to deal with has slowed everything down for legit claims

Just wanted to say hang in there, OP. We're all in the same boat. This system is broken, but don't give up. You'll get your money eventually!
