SDI Payment Delays: Advice Needed for Speeding Up Disability Payments
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability payments. I applied a while back and haven't heard anything. I'm getting really frustrated and don't know what to do next. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to speed things up or at least get some answers? I'm starting to worry about bills piling up.

Ugh, I feel ya. The disability system is such a mess rn. I've been waiting for months and still nothing. It's like they don't even care about us 😤

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about an hour.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's messed up. The system is so broken 😡

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Beats calling 100 times and never getting through 🤷♂️

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and paperwork submissions. 2. Be persistent. Call regularly, but be polite to the agents. 3. Check your online account daily for updates. 4. If you have a doctor or social worker, ask them to advocate for you. 5. Consider reaching out to your local representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. 6. Make sure all your paperwork is in order and you've submitted everything they've asked for. 7. If you're really struggling financially, look into local charities or assistance programs while you wait. Hang in there, OP. The system is slow, but keep pushing!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Any tips on what to say when I finally get someone on the phone?

Be clear and concise about your situation. Have your claim number and important dates ready. Ask specifically what's holding up your claim and what you can do to expedite it. Good luck!

anyone else notice how they always seem to 'lose' our paperwork? 🙄 I swear I've sent the same forms like 3 times now

Pro tip: if you fax your documents, you get a confirmation. Makes it harder for them to claim they never received anything. Old school but it works!

This is actually genius. Where do you even find a fax machine these days tho? 😂

Most libraries or office supply stores have them. There are also apps that let you fax from your phone!

Has anyone tried going to their local office in person? I've heard mixed things about whether that helps or not.

I tried last month. Waited 4 hours just to be told to check the website 🤦♂️

It worked for me! But I think it depends on your local office. Some are more helpful than others.

Honestly, I think it was just persistence. I called every week and eventually got lucky with a really helpful agent who pushed it through.
