EDD Late Disability Payment & Missing Certification Forms - What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some serious issues with my disability payments and I'm hoping someone here can help. I sent in all my paperwork to certify that I'm still disabled by the deadline, but I haven't received my payment for the last period (mid-March to beginning of April). On top of that, I haven't gotten the new forms I need to certify for April's payments. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting really worried because I'm falling behind on all my bills. Any advice on what to do or who to contact would be greatly appreciated!

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! 🚢 It's so frustrating when you do everything right and still don't get paid on time. Have you tried calling the EDD? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call for days but can never get through. It's like they don't want us to reach them! 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through that way.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration!

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

•For me, it was totally worth it. I was able to resolve my issue in one call instead of spending days trying to get through.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all forms you've submitted and note down dates. 2. Try calling EDD first thing in the morning (8:00 AM sharp). 3. If you can't get through, send a message through your online account. 4. Consider contacting your local state representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 5. Check if there are any known system issues or delays on the EDD website. 6. If all else fails, file a formal complaint. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you have rights and deserve your benefits.

•This is solid advice. I'd add: join Facebook groups for EDD claimants. Sometimes they have insider info on what's going on.

This happened to me last year. Turns out they 'lost' my paperwork. 🙄 Keep calling and don't let them give you the runaround. Good luck!

•Oh no, that's my worst fear! Did you have to resubmit everything?

•Yep, had to send it all in again. Make sure you keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them!

The EDD is a joke. They need to get their act together. We're real people with real bills to pay!

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they forget we're human beings who need to eat and pay rent.

Has anyone heard about the new bill they're trying to pass to improve EDD response times? Might help in the future but doesn't do much for us now...

•I read about that! Supposedly it'll require them to respond within 30 days. Better than nothing I guess?

•30 days?! That's still way too long when you're waiting on money to survive. smh

I'm dealing with something similar right now - submitted my forms on time but still waiting on payment. One thing that helped me was sending a secure message through the EDD portal AND following up with a fax (yes, they still use fax!). The fax number for disability claims is 866-692-5558. Make sure to include your social security number and claim number on everything. Also, if you haven't already, try reaching out to your assembly member's office - they have caseworkers who specifically handle EDD issues and can sometimes get faster responses than calling directly. Hang in there! 🤞

•This is incredibly helpful! I had no idea they still used fax - that's actually genius because it creates a paper trail. Definitely going to try the assembly member route too. Thank you so much for sharing these specific tips! 🙏
