SDI hasn't paid me at all - what can I do?

Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my disability payments. They haven't paid me at all and I'm getting really worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

I found a way to solve disability payments not received, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq6qdKqxXGA

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. It's been weeks and I haven't seen a dime. The system is so broken 😡

Weeks? Try months! I've been waiting since January. This is ridiculous.

Have you guys tried calling? I know its a pain but sometimes thats the only way to get answers

Calling is impossible. I've tried like 50 times and can never get through 🤦‍♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's kinda steep when we're already not getting paid...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait once it connected you?

Only about 5 minutes! Way better than the hours I spent trying to get through on my own

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure everything is filled out correctly and you haven't missed any sections. 2. If you haven't already, create an online account on the disability website. Sometimes you can see updates there that you won't get elsewhere. 3. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. Dates, times, who you spoke to (if anyone). 4. If you have a doctor or healthcare provider who certified your disability, reach out to them. Sometimes the holdup is on their end. 5. Consider contacting your local state representative. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with these issues. 6. As a last resort, you might want to consult with a lawyer who specializes in disability claims. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Be persistent but polite. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely start working through these steps.

This is great advice. I'd add: make copies of EVERYTHING you send them. They love to claim they never received stuff 🙄

have you checked your claim status online? sometimes there holding payments bc of missing info

This happened to me last year. Turns out they had my bank info wrong. One phone call fixed it (after waiting on hold for 3 hours lol). Definitely try to get someone on the line if you can!

3 hours?! I would lose my mind 😱

Tell me about it. I was ready to throw my phone out the window 😂

idk if this helps but I filed a complaint with the state ombudsman when I had issues. Got a call back within a week and they sorted it out pretty quick after that.

0 coins

I've never heard of this before. How do you file a complaint with the ombudsman?

0 coins

Just google '[your state] disability ombudsman' and you should find the info. It's usually a simple online form.

OP, when did you file your claim? It can take up to 3 weeks for them to even start processing it. The whole system is a joke tbh

It's been about a month now. I know they're backed up but this is getting ridiculous

0 coins

A month? Yeah, you definitely need to follow up. That's too long.

Hot take: the whole disability system needs a complete overhaul. It's not fit for purpose in 2023. We should be organizing and demanding change!

👏👏👏 Preach! But good luck getting anyone in power to care 🙄

100% agree. But how do we even start? It feels so overwhelming
