EDD disability payment missing - no notification, what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated right now. My disability payment hasn't come through and I'm starting to worry. I rely on these EDD checks to get by. Has anyone else had issues with their disability payments recently? I haven't received any notifications about problems, but the money just isn't showing up. Last payment I got was on schedule, but now nothing. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact?

Ugh, that sucks. I've been there before. Have you tried calling EDD directly? Sometimes they can give you more info over the phone.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting someone on the line.

Check your online account if you haven't already. Sometimes there are messages or updates there that don't get sent out as notifications.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get answers. Cheaper than taking a day off work to sit on hold.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your online account for any messages or status updates 2. Make sure all your paperwork is up to date (sometimes they need additional docs) 3. Try calling first thing in the morning when they open 4. If you can't get through, consider using a call-back service (there's one mentioned in another comment) 5. Reach out to your local assembly member's office - they can sometimes help push things through 6. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD 7. Check your bank account info is correct in the system Hang in there! The system is frustrating but don't give up. 💪

EDD is such a joke these days. I swear they're trying to make it as difficult as possible to get our money. 🤡

•Preach! 👏 It's like they forget we're real people with bills to pay.

•C'mon, they're probably just understaffed and overworked. Cut them some slack.

Anyone else notice that these issues seem to happen more at the end of the quarter? Wonder if it's a budget thing 🤔

OP, if you're really in a bind, reach out to local charities or churches. Some offer emergency assistance while you're sorting out government benefits. Helped me stay afloat last year.

•That's a great suggestion, thank you. I might have to look into that if this doesn't get resolved soon.

•Too little, too late if you ask me. They've been promising improvements for years.

I had the exact same issue a few months back - payment just vanished without any warning. Turned out there was a glitch in their system that affected a bunch of people. What finally worked for me was filing a complaint through the California State Disability Insurance (SDI) website AND contacting my state assemblyperson's office. The assemblyperson's office got me connected with someone at EDD within 48 hours. Also keep checking your online account obsessively - sometimes status changes appear there before anywhere else. Don't lose hope, just be persistent! 🙏
