Missed ED259 form deadline for SDI, now $9000 behind in payments. When will they resume?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability claim. I've been really sick and missed submitting the ED259 form by the due date. Now I've missed three payments totaling over $9000 from SDI. I finally submitted the form about two weeks after they asked for it, but I'm wondering when my payments will resume. My claim is still active, but I'm getting worried. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to speed things up?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. The SDI system can be such a pain to navigate, especially when you're not feeling well. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes talking to a real person can help move things along.

ā¢Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried calling, but the wait times are insane. I've been on hold for hours and still can't get through. It's so frustrating!

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through then. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

ā¢I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. And yeah, $20 isn't cheap, but considering how much money was on the line with my claim, it was worth it for me.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: ⢠First, don't panic. Your claim is still active, which is good news. ⢠Write a letter explaining your situation - be honest about why you were late submitting the form. ⢠Include any medical documentation that shows you were too ill to submit on time. ⢠Send this via certified mail to your local SDI office. ⢠ALSO fax the same documents (yes, they still use fax š) ⢠Keep calling every day. Be polite but persistent. ⢠If you have a case worker assigned, try to get their direct line. ⢠Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

ā¢Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start working on that letter right away. Do you think I should mention the financial hardship the delay is causing?

ā¢Absolutely mention the financial hardship! Make it clear how this delay is impacting you. Just keep it factual and avoid emotional language. Good luck!

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at the official SDI account can get their attention. Worth a shot! š¤·āāļø

Oof, I feel for you OP. I missed a deadline once and it took forever to sort out. Hang in there!

Not to be that guy, but maybe set reminders for important deadlines next time? Could save you a lot of hassle in the future.

I had a similar issue last year. It took about a month after I submitted the late form for my payments to resume. They did backpay me for the missed payments tho, so theres hope!

ā¢A month? Ugh, that's rough. But it's good to hear they backpaid you. Fingers crossed I have the same experience. Thanks for sharing!

Have you considered hiring an advocate? They can sometimes speed up the process, although it does cost money upfront.
