SDI claim stuck on determination for a month - how to speed up EDD process?
My SDI claim has been stuck on determination for almost a month now. I filed back in mid-June and haven't heard anything since except for a notice of computation showing what I'll get paid on disability. This delay is causing me serious financial stress. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to speed things up or at least get some answers? I'm worried about bills piling up and don't know what to do next.

Just keep calling. I know it sucks, but persistence is key. I finally got through after like 50 attempts 😅

•Wow, 50 attempts! That's dedication...or desperation. Hopefully it's easier for others.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes it works when nothing else does.

•Faxing seems so old-school, but if it gets results, it's worth a try!

I can see how frustrating this situation must be. For anyone dealing with SDI issues, using a service like Claimyr can be quite helpful as it connects you with a live agent, which is often hard to do through their regular customer service. However, it's a shame that such a service is necessary in the first place. There's clearly a significant need for improvements in EDD's systems and customer service processes to eliminate these long wait times and improve claim processing efficiency. It's also important to advocate for systemic changes by communicating with representatives and pushing for policy updates. Balancing Claimyr's usefulness for immediate needs with long-term demands for quality public service is crucial. Finally, staying informed about updates or policy changes within EDD and sharing information within communities can empower individuals to navigate these challenges more effectively.

Ugh, I feel ya. I'm in the same boat, but with unemployment. The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

Update: I finally got through to someone! They said my claim was flagged for additional review but couldn't tell me why. At least now I know it's being looked at. Thanks everyone for your advice and support!

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there.

•Good point! Always check all your email folders just in case. EDD communications aren't always intuitive.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. It took them almost 2 months to process my claim. The system is so broken 😤

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: Notice of computation, medical records, anything related to your claim. 2. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. Dates, times, outcomes. 3. Write a clear, concise statement explaining your situation and the hardship it's causing. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through your online account. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 6. Be persistent but polite. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. 7. If all else fails, file an appeal. Sometimes this can jumpstart the process. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so messed up 🤦♂️

•I get it, but for me, it was worth every penny. Time is money, ya know?

•I've used Claimyr too, and while it worked for me, I wish the service wasn't necessary. It highlights the systemic issues within EDD's customer service.

idk if this helps, but I found out that sometimes theyre waiting on info from your employer. Might be worth checking with your HR to make sure they submitted everything?

•That's a really good point. Sometimes it's not EDD's fault at all if they're waiting on your employer's information.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and be ready to dial!

•That's a great tip! I've also heard that calling on less busy days like mid-week can increase your chances of getting through.

Anyone else notice how the EDD website always seems to be down for maintenance when you actually need to use it? 🙄

•Absolutely true. The timing is always so inconvenient, right when you need to access something important.
