SDI approval taking forever (2+ weeks) - need money ASAP! Any tips to speed it up?
I've been waiting for over 2 weeks now for my SDI to be approved and I'm getting really frustrated. I need this money to pay my bills and I'm starting to feel the financial stress. Has anyone else experienced long delays with their SDI approval? Any advice on how to speed up the process or at least get some information on the status of my application?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I waited almost a month for my SDI to get approved. It's ridiculous how long they make us wait when we're already dealing with health issues. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can help move things along.

•I've tried calling but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! How did you manage to reach someone?

•It took me like 50 attempts, no joke. I just kept redialing over and over. Eventually I got through, but it was a whole day wasted 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying!

2 weeks? That's nothing, buddy. I've been waiting for 2 MONTHS. Welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🙃

Here's what I've learned from my experience with SDI: 1. Double-check that you've submitted all required documents. Missing paperwork is a common reason for delays. 2. If you haven't already, create an online account to check your claim status. 3. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them (dates, times, who you spoke to). 4. If possible, have your doctor's office follow up on the medical certification. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help expedite things. 6. Be persistent but polite when you do get through to someone. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but eventually it does work... most of the time.

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep, I hadn't thought of that.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, you have to PAY to talk to a government agency? That's messed up 😠

•I get it, but for me it was worth the $20 to actually get through and get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Guys, I'm telling you, its all about persistence. I called 37 times in one day before I got through. It sucks, but sometimes thats what it takes

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading online? I heard that can sometimes be faster.

•What year is it, 1995? 😂 But for real, does that actually work?

•Surprisingly, yes! It's like they have one person checking the online system and a whole team on fax duty 🤷♂️

I went through this exact same thing last year and I totally understand the stress! Here are a few things that helped me get through to someone: 1. Call the 1-800-480-3287 number right at 8am when they open - literally dial at 7:59am so you're ready 2. If you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local SDI office directly (you can find the number on the EDD website) 3. Keep a detailed record of all your submission dates and confirmation numbers - this helps when you finally do speak to someone 4. Make sure your doctor submitted the medical certification properly - that's often where delays happen Also, check if you qualify for any emergency assistance programs in your county while you wait. Some local organizations can help with utilities or food if you're struggling financially. Hang in there - I know it's incredibly frustrating but most claims do eventually get processed. The system is just overwhelmed. Sending you good vibes! 🤞
